Learning, benevolence and religion, have thrmvn their roots wider and deeper into the foundations oi the social system. Temperance has extended, still more, her benign in¬ fluence over the erring and the lost; and, as a consequence, general good order has prevailed, and crimes have diminished dirougboat the State. During the year that h post, tbe several denartmcnls of the State Govemmeni have discharged their respective duties with faithfulness and success, as will, in due time, appear from their reports.
