Provenance: The Ohio Historical SocLe~ y acquired the Scioto Valley
Traction Company Records as a gift ~ f Gregg D. V: olfe, Columbus,
Ohio, in 1937. Margaret L. Smith 3r~ cessed the collection in
November 1978.

rights to this collection.

Transfers: Photographs were transferred to the audiovisual
collections and newspaper and other 2rFnted materials were
transferred to the library.

Scope and content: The Scioto Valic, Traction Company Records
cover the early 1900s through the early 1940s, and are contained
in 5 record center boxes, and 11 Eolli~ ger boxes. The papers
deal primarily with the Scioto Valley Fraction Company, and
involve the Circleville, Chillicothe, Columbus, and Lancaster
lines. The monthly estimate sheets surmarize labor and material
costs by contractor. Some of the ~ iscellaneous notes and
calculations contain information for tax reports. Box 10,
folder 9 contains blueprints of passencer and freight cars,
most of which are dated 1918; and 30x 14, folders 7, 8, and 9
contain time tables from the Chillicotte and Lancaster Division,
the Circleville and Lancaster Divisions, and the Lancaster
Division. 1904 to 1930.
