Preliminary inventory
COLLECTION SYNOPSIS
Provenance: Camp Fire Girls, Inc., Columbus Area Council Records were
donated by Pamela Reese, Columbus, Ohio, and transferred to the Ohio
Historical Society, January 1, 1976. Additional material was donated
by Alice Hussey, Columbus, Ohio, and transferred to the Ohio Historical
Society, September, 1978. Preliminary processing was completed November,
1978, by Margaret Smith.

Historical information on the Camp Fire Girls, Inc., and the Columbus
Area Council may be found in Box 2, Folder 13.
Scope and Content: The majority of t h i s c o l l e c t i o n , contained i n f i v e
record center boxes and one Hollinger box, covers the 1930' s through the
1970' s. The scrapbooks highlight local events, services, and people, offer
food and c r a f t ideas, and one scrapbook records early days of camping ( 1917-
1920). The printed material includes copies of handbooks ( 1915- 1968) used
by the g i r l s , as well as newsletters, magazines, and guides for the use of
leaders, advisors, and guardians. The minutes of the executive board and
annual council meetings include treasurer and committee reports. Annual
reports to National Headquarters include applications f o r renewal of l o c a l
council charter. The folder of correspondence includes two l e t t e r s signed
by Governor Thomas 3. Herbert, and contains several l e t t e r s of appreciation
and thanks to the Camp Fire Gir3. s from individuals, groups, and organizations.
