HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE COLLECTION
Newspaper morgues are subject files of clippings from a newspaper and photographs published in a newspaper. Newspaper staff created the files as a research and reference tool. The files provided a record of a newspaper’s coverage of particular people and events. The material in this collection is from the morgues of newspapers in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area that are now maintained by the Minneapolis Public Library, Special Collections Department.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
The collection consists of black and white photographs of business leaders, clergy, criminals, entertainers, pilots, politicians, scientists, soldiers and sports figures from Ohio from 1915 to 1954. News clippings that accompanied the photographs have been copied on acid free paper and filed with the photographs.
ORGANIZATION OF THE COLLECTION
The photographs are filed in alphabetical order by the surname of the primary person depicted in the photograph or the subject of the photograph.
