Local 2342, through the auspices of the p r e s i d e n t , Roy Easley,
i n March 1981. David Gray preparea the preliminary inventory
i n April 1981.

f e r r e d t o the Audiovisual Department i n April, 1981.
Organizational sketch: The United Steelworkers of America Local
Union 2342 was chartered in 1942 t o represent workers a t the
Buckeye Steel Castings Corporation i n Columbus, Ohio. The union
c u r r e n t l y has 1500 members and is the s o l e bargaining agent a t
Buckeye S t e e l . Local 2342 is governed by an e l e c t e d executive
board.

Scope and content: The United Steelworkers of America Local
Union 2342 Records d a t e from 1959 t o 1975 and occupy three- quarters
cubic foot. The records c o n s i s t of accident r e p o r t s , agreements,
correspondence, grievances, job d* scriptions, minutes of member-ship
meetings, and minutes of union- management meetings. There is
no documentation f o r t h e f i r s t 20 years of Local 2342.
Accident reports provide information concerning working conditions
and the hazards of working i n a s t e e l c a s t i n g s p l a n t . Local agree-ments
document the union's e f f o r t s to a t t a i n r e p r e s e n t a t i o n ,
b e t t e r wqrking conditions, wages, grievance procedures, and b e n e f i t s .
