began a s t h e Commercial Club of Delaware, Ohio, when the
Conunercial Club and Boosters Club merged i n 1912. The purpose
of t h e o r g a n i z a t i o n is t o promote t h e community and f o s t e r
cooperation among businessmen. O f f i c e r s i n c l u d e a p r e s i d e n t ,
f i r s t and second v i c e p r e s i d e n t , s e c r e t a r y , and t r e a s u r e r ,
e l e c t e d a n n u a l l y . Xembership is open t o any c i t i z e n o r f i r m
i n Delaware County upon approval of t h e membership committee.
The Commercial Club charged i t s name t o t h e Delaware Area
Chamber of Commerce i n 1922.

Scope and c o n t e n t : The Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce Records
c o n s i s t of one- half cubic f o o t of minutes d a t i n g from 1912 t o 1954,
and arranged c h r o n o l o g i c a l l y . I n a d d i t i o n t o documenting t h e
a c t i v i t i e s of t h e group such a s community p i c n i c s and an annual
pumpkin show, t h e minutes c o n t a i n i n f o r m a t i o n on membership,
o f f i c e r s , and f i n a n c e s . A c o n s t i t u t i o n d a t i n g 1912 and a 1917
r e v i s i o n d e t a i l t h a g r o u p ' s o r g a n i z a t i o n a l s t r u c t u r e . The minutes
f o r 1912 through 1924, o r i g i n a l l y k e p t i n a scrapbook, w e r e photo-copied
f o r p r e s e r v a t i o n purposes. Minutes f o r t h e y e a r s 1925
through 1928 and 1943 through 1951 a r e missing from t h e c o l l e c t i o n .
