Organizational s k e t c h : The Central Ohio Council of Senior C i t i z e n s
was organized i n 1978 t o promote the i n t e r e s t s and welfare of
s e n i o r c i t i z e n s i n c e n t r a l Ohio. To accomplish t h i s g o a l , t h e
Conncil endorses l e g i s l a t i o n b e n e f i c i a l t o s e n i o r c i t i z e n s , a i d s
them i n o b t a i n i n g b e n e f i t s , and encourages t h e formation of o t h e r
s e n i o r c i t i z e n s groups. Membership on t h e Council is open t o
s e n i o r c i t i z e n s groups; l a b o r unions; s o c i a l , f r a t e r n a l , r e l i g i o u s ,
and o t h e r o r g a n i z a t i o n s ; a s well as persons e l i g i b l e f o r membership
i n t h e National Council o f Senior C i t i z e n s , I n c . The Council is
a f f i i i a t e d with t h e N a t i o n a l c o u n c i l a s w e l l a s t h e Ohio Council
o f S e n i o r C i t i z e n s , I n c . The Central. Ohio Council has j u r i s d i c t i o n
over Coshocton, Delaware, F a i r f i e l d , F a y e t t e , F r a n k l i n , Licking,
!, ladison, Marion, Pickaway, and Union c o u n t i e s .
The Council is governed by a p r e s i d e n t , r e c o r d i n g s e c r e t a r y ,
t r e a s u r e r , and c h a p l a i n , e l e c t e d a n n u a l l y . These o f f i c e r s along
with a v i c e p r e s i d e n t from each a f f i l i a t e d group and each o f t h e
t e n c o u n t i e s c o n s t i t u t e t h e e x e c u t i v e committee. The committee
r u l e s between r e g u l a r monthly meetings and a p p o i n t s t h e e x e c u t i v e
d i r e c t o r who p r e s i d e s over d a i l y c o u n c i l b u s i n e s s .
