MSS 823 Dorothy Stevens Humphreys Papers 1/ 4 cubic foot Preliminary inventory Collection Synopsis Provenance: The Ohio Historical Society acquired the Dorothy Stevens Hurnphreys Papers as a gift of Dorothy Stevens H~~? phreys, Columbus, Ohio, in October 1979. Barbara Floyd processed the collection in July 1983. Property rights: The Ohio Historical Society owns the property rights to this collectxon. Copyrights: Dorothy Stevens Humphreys has dedicated such copy-rights as she possesses in this collection to the public. Con-sideration of all other copyric~ hts is the responsibility of the author and publisher. Access: This collection is open under the rules and regulations of the Ohio Historical Society. Citation: Researchers are requested to cite collection name, collection number, and the Ohio Historical Society in all foot-note and bibliographic references. Biographical sketch: See inventory to Dorothy Stevens Humphreys Audio Collection, A 45, the Ohio Historical Society. Scope and content: The Dorothy Stevens Humphreys Papers consist of one- quarter cubic foot of correspondence and programs collected in scrapbooks by Humphreys from 1919 to 1963. The material was removed from the scrapbooks and divided into two series by record 4~- 4'". Series I consists of correspondence, 1925- 1963, from people and organizations and documents Hi~ 7~ phreys'ssi nqing career. Letters from organizations request Humphreys's services or thank her for performances at events; most are from Columbus, Ohio, groups. Letters or' a more personal nature compliment Humphreys on her singing ability. A copy of the 1949 silver anniversary program of WBNS Radio, Columbus, is included in folder 1. Series II includes prograns from performances by Humphreys, 1919- 1961. P. biography written by Huinphreys and a sheet of music apparently ~ ritten by her are filed in folder 5.
