Biographical s k e t c h : Robert W. Toomey l i v e d i n Columbus, Ohio,
from c i r c a 1925 t o 1951. He worked f o r t h e S t a t e of Ohio, Division
of Insurance a s a c t i n g warden from 1925 t o 1931, a p p a r e n t l y con-d
u c t i n g i n v e s t i g a t i o n s of insurance claims. He was a c t i v e i n t h e
Pen and Pencil Club, a p r o f e s s i o n a l and s o c i a l group of C o l d u s
a r e a a r t i s t s , and served a s v i c e p r e s i d e n t i n c i r c a 1 9 2 6 .

by Toomey. The scrapbooks a r e arranged c h r o n o l o g i c a l l y with
l o o s e material removed and placed i n f o l d e r s .
Volu!! e 1, 1925- 1926, c o n t a i n s correspondence and p u b l i c a t i o n s on
t h e t o p i c o f i n s u r a n c e , i n c l u d i n g letters from t h e S t a t e of Ohio,
D i v i s i o n o f I n s u r a n c e c e r t i f y i n g Toomey as Acting Warden so he
could c a r r y o u t i n s u r a n c e i n v e s t i g a t i o n s . Also i n Volume 1 is
information on t h e Pen and Pencil Club, i n c l u d i n g o r i g i n a l drawings
by mernbers and newspaper c l i p p i n g s about c l u b a c t i v i t i e s . Dhoto-graphs
