B i o g r a p h i c a l s k e t c h : Harold J u i e Zimmerman was born in D e t r o i t , Michigan, on April 20, 1892. He graduated from C2s2 I n s t i i u t e of Technology, Cleveland, Ohia, in 1915 with a d e g r e e i n e l e c t r i c a l e n g i n e e r i n g . He moved to Willougbby, Ohio, where he worked as an i n d u s t r i a l management c o n s u l t a n t . Zimmerman, who was a c t i v e in t h e c o n s e r v a t i o n movement, was a member of t h e Burroughs Narure Club ( s e r v i n g a s p r e s i d e n t from 1952 t o 1 9 5 6 ) , t h e Cl eve1 and Audubon S o c i e t y , t h e Clevel and Museum of l a t u r a l H i s t o r y , Holden Arboretum, t h e advisory com-m i t t e e of t h e Lake County Park Board, t h e S i e r r a Club, and t h e Ohio Chapter of The Nature Conservancy ( TNC). In 1968 he r e c e i v e d t h e D i s t i n g u i s h e d Achievement Award during Ohio Conservation Achievement Day ceremonies. The award was given t o Zimmerman f o r h i s work as chairman of the Ohio TNC1s committee t o a c q u i r e Mentor Marsh in Lake County, Ohio. TNC a c q u i r e d the land i n 1965 f o r p r e s e r v a t i o n as a n a t u r a l museum. Zimmerman died in January 1984.
