Biographical sketch: Annette P e r s i s Ward was born ca. 1875 i n
Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Hubert C. and Jane Elizabeth
Parker Ward. She attended Putnam Seminary i n Zanesville u n t i l
the family moved t o Granville, Ohio, i n 1887, where she attended
the Granville Female College, graduating in 1892.
She studied a t the New England Conservatory of Music, the P r a t t
I n s t i t u t e of Library Science i n New York, and The Ohio S t a t e
University b e f o r e r e c e i v i n g a bachelor o f a r t s degree from
Oberlin College. She l a t e r received a master of a r t s degree i n
l i b r a r y science from the University o f Michigan.
Ward worked as a l i b r a r i a n f o r t h e Women's I n s t i t u t e of Yonkers,
New York; the Church of the Ascension, New York; the New York
Public Library; Columbia University; and Oberlin College. She
a l s o served a s l i b r a r i a n for the Western Reserve H i s t o r i c a l
Society, Cleveland, Ohio, from 1909 t o 1914; and for Alma College,
Alma, Michigan, from 1919 t o 1939.
