O r g a n i z a t i o n a l s k e t c h : The Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce
was e s t a b l i s h e d in 1969 i n o r d e r t o s t i m u l a t e t h e growth and
development o f L o r t h i n g t o n , Ohio, and t o advance i t s c o m m e r c i a l ,
i n d u s t r i a l , e d u c a t i o n a l , a g r i c u l t u r a l , p r o f e s s i o n a l , f i n a n c i a l ,
and c i v i c i n t e r e s t s . From 1969 t o 1981 t h e Chamber was managed
by an e x e c u t i v e - s e c r e t a r y . Under t h e 1981 a r t i c l e s o f i n c o r p o r a -
t i o n and r e g u l a t i o n s t h e Chamber i s governed by a board o f n i n e
t r u s t e e s , o n e - t h i r d e l e c t e d a n n u a l l y f o r t h r e e y e a r t e r m s a t t h e
a n n u a l m e e t i n g of members in December. O f f i c e r s of t h e Chamber,
e l e c t e d by t h e board from i t s own members, i n c l u d e a p r e s i d e n t ,
v i c e p r e s i d e n t , and a s e c r e t a r y - t r e a s u r e r . The p r e s i d e n t a p p o i n t s
c o m m i t t e e s a s needed. The Chamber's t h r e e c l a s s e s o f membership
i n c l u d e h o n o r a r y l i f e membership as v o t e d by t h e b o a r d o f t r u s t e e s ;
a c t i v e membership f o r any p e r s o n , c o r p o r a t i o n , a s s o c i a t i o n , e s t a t e ,
o r f o u n d a t i o n ; and a s s o c i a t e membership f o r e m p l o y e e s o f a c t i v e
members. Each a c t i v e and a s s o c i a t e member has one v o t e .
