T o w n s h i p , T u s c a r a w a s C o u n t y , O h i o , t o George S. W a l t o n and Mary
Ann Thomas W a l t o n on A u g u s t 4, 1908. She i s t h e widow of f o r m e r
O h i o L i e u t e n a n t G o v e r n o r John W . Donahey, and d a u g h t e r - i n - l a w o f
O h i o G o v e r n o r A. V i c t o r Donahey. M r s . Donahey moved t o Columbus
s h o r t l y a f t e r g r a d u a t i n g f r o m h i g h s c h o o l a n d w o r k e d a s a j e w e l r y
s a l e s c l e r k i n F. & R. L a z a r u s and Company d u r i n g t h e d a y . A t
n i g h t she a t t e n d e d Manns B u s i n e s s C o l l e g e .
G e r t r u d e met h e r h u s b a n d John W . Donahey d u r i n g t h e 1920s and
t h e y were m a r r i e d i n K e n t u c k y on A p r i l 1 2 , 1 9 3 0 . T h e c o u p l e made
t h e i r home i n Hudson, O h i o . P r i o r t o t h e b i r t h o f t h e i r s o n J o h n
J r . , M r s . Donahey s p e n t s e v e r a l y e a r s as a r e s e a r c h a n a l y s t f o r
h e r h u s b a n d , who was e m p l o y e d b y t h e R e c o n s t r u c t i o n F i n a n c e
C o r p o r a t i o n , an a g e n c y o f t h e f e d e r a l g o v e r n m e n t . John D o n a h e y ' s
d u t i e s r e q u i r e d h i m t o a s s i s t c o m p a n i e s w i t h f i n a n c i a l d i f f i c u l t i e s
