SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE SERIES
This series contains information from the Science and Technology Division of the Governor’s Office. The Science and Technology records document achievement and advancement in a broad range of fields including, but not limited to Space Exploration, Nano Technology, computer technology advancement, and Bio- Medical Technology. The records also document the Taft administration’s push to make Ohio a technological center by enticing outside technological corporations and providing funding to Ohio corporations. Additionally, there is information on the relationship between federally funded programs in Ohio, such as the NASA Glenn Research Center and Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and Ohio State Government.
Three boxes of the series are records relating specifically to the Third Frontier Project. The Third Frontier Project, initiated in February 2002, is the state's largest commitment to expanding Ohio's high- tech research capabilities and promoting innovation and company formation in order to create high- paying jobs for the future. Third Frontier records include, but are not limited to, formation information, committee and council meetings, and correspondence.
