AGENCY BACKGROUND
Camp Perry was founded in 1906 and named for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. In
addition to serving as a training facility for the Ohio National Guard, the National Rifle
Association National Matches have been held there since 1907.
FUNCTIONS OF THE RECORD SERIES
Documents select Ohio National Guard units and rifle teams participating in the National
Rifle Matches held at Camp Perry, an Ohio National Guard Military Reservation.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE SERIES
Series consists of 123 black and white, panoramic photographs of Ohio National Guard
units and rifle teams from across the United States competing in the National Rifle
Matches at Camp Perry. The bulk of the photographs are dated 1936. However, there
are nine photographs that are dated from 1937. Each photograph is identified by a
caption on the front of the image. Ohio National Guard units represented in Series I
