This Sunday (Tomorrow) Is Voting Day For Delegates To World Zionist Congress
After seven years of war in which our people were the great¬ est sufferers, Jews iri America will again spealt for their right to live at the coming World Zion¬ ist Congress to be held In Pal¬ estine in December,
This year the Zionist Congress maift again be the "Voice of the ,Jewish People". Even as of old, we are to be heard and counted through the shekel, the ancient- modern symbol ot Jewish solid¬ arity! .
The shekel which orvg must have in order lo vote is more than a credential of the holder which gives him the franchise to vote fop delegates to the Con¬ gress, It represents a vote in a wG(rld-wide referendum which is to demonstrate to the United Nations, and to some of the de¬ spicable nations, that the Jews of this country, the Jewish com¬ munity in Palestine and Jews everywhere are determined to fight for the national preserva¬ tion of the Jewish people. They are determined to fight for rec¬ ognition of their Just demands which is a matter of life and death for the million and a half surviving Jews in Europe,
Local elections for delegates
will take place at the Schonthal Center, Sunday, (tomorrow). June SOth, from 9 A, M, to 9 P, M. He who holds a shekel, he alone will vote as an elector to the World Zionist Congress, He who holds a shekel will partici¬ pate most directly In determin¬ ing the future of the' Jewish people.

Says Palestine Only Hope For Jewish Survivor^
NBW YOBK (WNS)—Herbert H. Lehman former Governor of the State of New York and di¬ rector general of the United Na¬ tions Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, declared that Palestine offers the only oppor¬ tunity for a futui-e to the sur¬ viving Jews in Europe.
Speaking at a luncheon he sponsored at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel Ior William Rosenwald, national chairman of the $100,- 000,000.UJA campaign, Mr. Leh¬ man said;
"What:! have seen and know of the horrible, hopeless plight of Jews in displaced persons' camps has made me realize that unless they are released soon there will be a great deteriora¬ tion, morally and physically," the former director of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilita¬ tion Administration said.
"I am convinced that whether we are Zionists or not, Palestine offers an opportunity which we must insist we use at this time.
Mr Lehman pointed out that although the UJA drive has been , successful so far, there is still a huge sum to be raised if we are even remotely to approach the needs of stricken Jews over¬ seas" He spoke, he reminded his guests, nofas an amaWur, but as one who had witn^sed that need at close range. No matter how graphic the descrip¬ tion of the plight, he added, it (Continued on Page Four)

The Rase E, Lazarus Sister¬ hood, of the Bryden Road Tem¬ ple, is this week announcing its money-raising project for the year 194C.47. On Thanksgiving Day the Sisterhood will' give a- way to the holder of the lucky number on the ticket purchased a new 1940 Four-Door Custom Dodge Sedan,
Each member will receive one book ot ten tickets for her to dispose of at $1,00 each as her share towards the success of this popular effort.
The Sisterhood members are at this time given advance notice to mark the date of Tuesday, July 23rd, on their calendar. A gala Vacation Day will be en¬ joyed at that time at the Gold¬ berg farm. Do everything possible to complete the United Jewish Fund campaign by the weel{ eriding July Oth, was the word sent out this week by the leaders of the 1046 drive to all workers of the Men's, Women's and Junior Divisions. Campaign Chairman I. W. Garek and his capable Chainnan of the Organization Commiftec, Harry Roth, this week stressed that every day counts for the hungry, the homeless and the sick survivors. "The quicker the 1946 campaign can be brought to a finish, the faster our dollars can be put to work to provide relief for thousands of the men, women and children who look to us for help," they declared.
At press time the United Jewish Fund headquarters, located at 150 E. Broad St., reported that the campaign had already reached to about 90% of the goal. To date we can say that the wholehearted, generous response of Columbus Jewry is a brilliant testimonial to the spirit of this commun¬ ity. 'The challenge is being faced squarely and it Is being met. Not only can we be proud of the generosity with which subscriptions are being made, but we can give due credit for the untiring efforts of the volunteer army of men, women and youth workers carrying on the laborious func- ' tions of the <drive.
The results thus far, therefore, indicate that Columbus Jews realize their responsibility for the destitute and home¬ less in the war-torn lands of Europe. They evidence, too, that there is a full understanding ot the gravity of the cause and that giving must be proportionate to the need for help. The campaign has still a week to go. How far over the top we go will be a measure of^pur recognition of the needs of oui unfortunate brethren, .
In a Joint appeal by the cam¬ paign committee which Is exert¬ ing every effort to Wind up the United Jewish Fund drive by July eth, it stated:
"This is a grave hour in which- we, as leaders and workers, rise to the challenge of the campaign, a drive to assure aid for the vic¬ tims of the frightful terror over¬ seas, and to strengthen the bul¬ wark of democracy here, a shield of protection against the wave of anti-Semitism threatening us. But the high resolve and cour¬ age with which we answer the ^challenge of this campaign shall 'be the measure of the esteem in which we shall be held In the eyes of all men who will strive for a good world, in the measure of respect and honor which shall be accorded us as a part of this communiiy in assuming and sharing responsibility as Ameri- cans.

•Quite apart from the human!- - tarian appeal in this drive is the thought that your contribution Is a matter of purely good busi¬ ness, l^'or while the greater por. tlon of the Fund quota is to be devoted to the United Jewish Appeal for relief overseas, vital Jewish interests in this country are protected through agencies and institutions which are bene¬ ficiaries of the United Jewish, Fund.
These' agencies are becomlpg slgnficantly more Important as. events develop. Some of them combat antl-Semltlsm and anti¬ democratic subversive "groups- which conduct their work through treasonable liaison with unfriendly governments. Others carry on cultural, civic, educa¬ tional, philanthropic and relief agencies.
There Is but one answer to the appeal for all of them, and that Is that all thlnkhig and Intelli¬ gent people will give and give ¦ generously in the spirit of the appropriate slogan—"If we give —Tl\ey will live.''
