Byrnes on the Pales¬ tine question for the first time since It was announced in Wash¬ ington that Mr- Byrnes has been authorized by President Truman to discuss the. Palestine Issue -with British Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin, who la now in this country. Participating in the conference were Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, Dr. Stephen S. Wise and Dr. Nahum Goldmann. Mr. Bevin had been informed that a meeting wllh Byrnes was scheduled, during his second conference with Dr. I. W. Garek The Edwin J. Council Dessert Meeting To Be Held Juesday Afternoon The regular meeting of the- Columbus Section, National Council Jewish Women, will be held next Tuesday, Dec. 3, in the Bryden Road Temple. This will be a dessert meeting which' will begin promptly at 1 P. M.,. followed by the business ses¬ sion beginning.at 2 P. M. On that afternoon. Council will take pleasure in presenting Mrs. S. S. Watson, who, will give a book review on "Debor¬ ah" by Marion Castle. Mrs. Wat¬ son Is well known in Univer¬ sity circles here and has spoken before many women's groups In the city. Her book reviews are given in a most entertaining fashion., In place of regular business, there will be a report of the 18th Triennial of the National Council of Jewish Women held recently in Dallas, Texas. This will be in the form ot a bridge table discussion with Mrs. Sim¬ on Lazarus, Mrs. Harry Gold¬ berg and Mrs. Robert Blashek participating, entitled, "Two Spades—Three Delegates."
