Jewish Center was dedicated last Sun¬ day afternoon—hut, metaphori¬ cally.. It was Incalculably greater than a cornerstone that was dedicated: It wa.s.. a milestone! For It marked—in solid granitcr- the fine progress of a .lewigh community; it marked Ihe ful¬ fillment of a dream by ilroamers no longer with us, men like Jos¬ eph '•i''op" Schonthal, E. J. Schanfarber, Siimucl N. Summer and Simon Lazarus. It .al.so marked the culmination of effi¬ cacious efforts in initiating a wonderful edifice for men on the Center's iiyiUling and Site Com¬ mittees, as follows: Building Committee: A. I. 'Ven¬ kin, Chairman: Harry Gilbert I. 'W. Garek, Dr. E. J. Cordon, Rudolph Kiemperer, Samuel Mel¬ ton, J. S.-Resler, Jack Schiff, Ed¬ ward Schlezlnger, Joseph S. Summer, Samuel Stone and Abe A. Highlight of the Impressive ceremony was the piscina of the cornerstone, an honor given to JOBBptT'S.Summerr grandson of the late "Pop" Schonthal, on be¬ half of the Schonthal and Sum¬ mer families. His father was the late Samuel N. Summer, who headed the campaign for Center funds In W15ACy. Mr. Summer said "the laying of the cornerstone is and will be the greatest thrill of my life; my appreciation is at this lime ex¬ tended to the people of Columbui for their thougntfulness and generosity." Sam Weiss to Attend In a dramatic announcement this weiek, Seymour Luckoff, Guardian of B'^nal B'rith Zion IjOdge No. 62, revealed that Gov. Frank J, Lausche has accepted the honor of keynoting the largest, B'nal B'rith membership drive In its history. The huge rally will be held In the main biillroora of the Southern Hotel, Tuesday, Nov. 22. 8 p. ro. Never before In the history of Columlius B'nal B'rith has a campaign such as this been im- dertaken. The meeting has been' designed to spark a two-day membership drive in which more than 250 active members of the organization will visit the homes of prospective members to ex¬ plain the benefits and merits of membership In this fraternal group. B'nal B'rith, the largest and oldest Jewish service organiza¬ tion in the world, is now cele¬ brating its 106th anniversary. Mr. Luckoff also announced the appointment "of Raymond Weils as Campaign Chairman. Under his direction five vice- chairmen. Including Mitchell Cohen, Marvin Frank, Marvin Fourth Annual Stag for JWV's Nov. 15 "social" session with the usual popular "Indoor sports," open bar free, and kibitzing. At midnight will come the dramatic announcement of t h e winner of the 1949 Oldsnioblle. At 12:15 a. ml, a midnight jam- bofee is scheduled, with out¬ standing talent lined up to per¬ form. "Fun for all!" Is the by-word of the fourth annual stag affair being presented Tuesday, Nov. 15 by tne local Jewish 'war Vet¬ erans, Capitol Post 122, at the Seneca Hotel. The evening's fes¬ tivities start at 0:16 with a tur¬ key dinner; at 8:00 will be a short business meeting and nomlna- •tlon of officers; at .9:00 stirta a Glassman, Milton Yassenoff and David Roth, will coordinate the most Intensive mobilization for membership ever known. Membenship In B'nal B'rith Is open to every Jewish person, 21 years of age and older. It is best known for its work In fighting bigotry and promoting Inter¬ group relations through Its Antl- Defamatlon League. It has galn- e d International recognition through support of Its Hillel Foundation of religious and re¬ creational centers. The new ultra modern build¬ ing on the campus of Ohio State University is one small part of the enormous scope of the or¬ ganization's activities. FEDERATION OF TEMPLE SISTERHOODS MEETS The Ohio Federation of Tem¬ ple Sisterhoods will conduct Its convention In Cleveland at 'Wade B'NAI B'RITH WOMBN ON THE AIR B'nal B'rith Women will pro.ylde the "Listen, Ladles" broadcast on WCOL Wednes- day afternoon at 1:15.
