Hillers Anniversary  Celebration  Wednesday
Several hundred loyal support¬ ers of the Ohio State University Hillel will gather Wednesday evening at 6:15, at the Founda¬ tion,- 46 16th Ave., to celebrate the Silver anniversary of Its founding, to honor. Rabbi Harry Kaplan for his 15 years of ser¬ vice as its director and to par¬ ticipate in the annual Student Awards, at which time recogni¬ tion Is given those students whose acnievemenLs during the year have been outstanding.
Principal addresses of the eve¬ ning will be made by Rabbi Ar¬ thur Lelyveld, natfonal Hlliel director, and Rabbi Kaplan, with Sidney Kusworm, national B'nai B'rilh figure, acting as toast- master. Others to be heard dur¬ ing the program are .lo.seph Parka, dean of men at Ohio State, who will represent the University; Isadore Garek, re¬ presenting the Supreme Lodge of B'nai £5'rith; Larry Schaffer, outgoing president of the Stud¬ ent Council, and Miss Shirley Blum,  incoming president.

In the autumn of 1925 we had no activities, no following, and very little understanding of our task. We had hopes for the fut¬ ure and liHIe ei.se. A few stud¬ ents caught the vision, and work¬ ed wilh me, A group of .lews on and off the campus was inspir¬ ed by E. J, Schanfarber to take an inlerest in the work. Bit by bit. the institution came to have a shape; the vague dream be¬ came a living program.
After a (}Uarter of a century. Hillel is now a permanent insti¬ tution on the American campus, and nol least al Ohio Stale, ll is a center for Jewish young men and women, a hope for .lewish Ideals and .lewish activities, ^'our splendid new home Iiro¬ vides a |)hysical background for these undertakings. UJF WOMEN'S KICKOFF DINNER IS HUGE SUCCESS
An increase of 7% over last year's kick-off dinner pledges was reached as more than .300 women attended the 1950 open¬ ing dinner of the Women's Divi¬ sion 1050 campaign of the United Jewish Fund last Monday eve¬ ning at the Soulhern Hotel. They heard Miss Ilka Chase and Ben¬ jamin R. Epstein tell the moving and thrilling story of how our dollars are helping hundreds of thou.sands of our people create a new life for themselves.
With generous enthusiasm, the women present pled^d them¬ selves to give more than ever before, to share, as never be¬ fore, of the bounty which is theirs, 80 that somewhere, some¬ place, someone who has nothing, might have the chance to live again.
