UJF Ressponds ta Israel Cash Appeal; Local "C" Day is Cancelled
The Columbus quota In Is¬ rael's urgent appeal for cash funds by Dec. 31 has been part¬ ially met, and the United Jew¬ ish Fund expects to send the final payment before deadline time.
This has been made possible through the fine response of UJP contributors who have paid, all or a great part of their 1950- 51 pledges In advance.
In a statement of appreciation, Ralph Lazarus, president of the UJF, said: "We of the United Jewish Fund wish to express nur thanks and our appreciation lo alt those who responded so promptly and gen¬
erously to our urgent request for all or any part of the unpaid balance of their 1050-51 contribu¬ tion.     ¦
"As a result, we have been able to send to the United Jew¬ ish Appeal, the amount of $50,-
000. The balance of our share Is now $50,000, which Is needed by Dec. 31.
"We hope that those of you who have npt yet paid your pledge in advance will answer this special plea to help the im¬
migrants In the Slate of Israel as quickly as possible, and thus enable us lo fulfill our total ob¬ ligation.
"Again our gratefiil thanks lo all of you."

The Agudath Achlm Sister¬ hood takes pride in announcing that Johnny Jones, columnist, author and world traveler, will be the guest speaker at this year's paid-up membership luncheon.
The affair is next Tuesday, 1:30 pm., in the Agudath Achim synagogue social hall.
All members of the Sisterhood are Invited to hear Mr. Jones give an Interesting talk. Those members who have not paid their dues will have a chance to do so at the luncheon.

B'NAI B'RITH SPONSORS CONCERT FEATURING CANTOR SHOLOM KATZ
Tuesday evening — and Cantor Sholom Katz will appear here at the Jewish Center under the sponsorship of B'nai B'rith. Mrs. Augusta Frank will be at the piano. The program, scheduled to begin at 8:15 p. m., will consist of Cantor Katz singing opera num¬ bers, Yiddish folk songs and canlorlal selections.
The Internationally-famous cantor first came here last year when he thrilled a full house at Broad St. Temple. He was brought back by pOtiular demand. The public Is invited; there Is no ad¬ mission charge.
Holiday Party at Self-Development School Tomorrow for Families of Ne'w Americans
In the spirit of the Chanukah season, the Council of Jewish Women will entertain families of New Americans with a gay holi¬ day party tomorrow, 3 to 5 p. m., at the Columbus Self Develop¬ ment School, 1021 Bryden Rd.
Mrs. A. R. Schwartz, head of this outstanding' school, will be in charge of the entertainment, which assures the guests of a happy lime. A number of the children will feel very much at' home there for they are pupils al the school and are well Integrat¬ ed members of the classes. Learning the customs and language of their little schoolmates qualifies them to, In turn, help tlielr parents with the language of their new country. Their .future Is in their children and only through them can they become a part of the American life. ^-H is indeed a generous move on tTje part of the Self-Develop¬ ment School lo enroll these chil¬ dren and to give them this fine start up the road to American citizenship. Attendance Is a privilege and Mrs. Schwartz is proud of her new little Ameri¬ cans.
Plans for the party sound ex¬ citing, /i. committee Of Council Women, under the chairmanship of Mrs. Stanley Schwartz, have planned refreshments for all and every child will carry home a gift from the Council. Games and dancing will round out the afternoon.
