CANTOR KATZ TO CONDUCT AHAVAS SHOLOM SERVICES
A truly holiday spirit pervad¬ ed the portals of Ahavath Sho¬ lom synagogue the first two days of Succoth when Cantor Shalom Katz poured forth in ma¬ jestic song his unique interpre¬ tations of the thanks and trib¬ utes to the Lord of Hosts that are incorporated in our "ageless and timeless prayerbooks.
Cantor Katz possesses a lyric tenor voice of compelling smoothness and beauty. His high notes are poignant and penetrat¬
ing, reminiscent of the great Herschman. Not only does he go up to high B and V with ease and power, but he ...des down to low G without the least sign of vocal discomfort. He executes the difficult canlorlal trills with breath-taking agility and dex¬ terity. The Cantor also knows the meaning of the fiery pass¬ ages in the prayerbook, and hav¬ ing lived through the Hitler hell, he often interprets them in a sublime manner.
