Local Wbiiten^s Groups Observe Annual Affair
When the Columbus chapters oi B'nal B'rllh Women, Coulncll , of Jewish Women and Senior Hadassa^i meet together at the Jew ish Center Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1:30 p. m., It will mark the 7th annual cooperative meeting of the three local groups. Numerically, the three largest women's groups In the city,- the Council. Hadassah and B'nal B'rlth Women's chapters are all leading forces In the lives of practically every Jewish wotnan In the community. . All three are Important cogs In chains of national organizations that extend throughout the country, and through their programs of service, give the Jewish women of our communlly and nation an opportunity to express themselves on many levels.
In the work of each of them is found a community of interests, especially in the program deve¬ loped for aid to Israel, education and cultural activities- fof their varied memberships. In addi¬ tion, each plays an Important and valuable role In civic pf- falrs. In national ihatters, and In helping the, unfortunate of our people here- and abroad. The Columbtis Jewish community can well be proud of the con¬ tribution these three organiza¬ tions have made, not only to the welfare of our own clly, but to our people everywhere.
In Joining together to present their 7th annual meefjpg Jan. 10, they win present-a program of mutual Inierest and benefit lo all Jewish women through ihe medium of their guest speaker for the afternoon. Dr. Meiio Lovenstein, Professor of Eco¬ nomics at Ohio Slate University. Dr. Lovenstein has already ac¬ quired a position of esteem In the community, through his many appearances before other groups, and his charm and elo¬ quence will add much to the af¬ ternoon's program. He has chos¬ en as his subject, "The World at Your Door,!' an Intriguing and challenging portrayal of th& posi¬ tion of Jewish club women in the national and International scene.
The musical program for the ! afternoon will bie given by Mar- v 1 n Josolowltz, director o f youth, activities for the new Jewish Center. This will mark one of the first appearancea of Mr. Josolowltz before so large a group, and with his reputation already firmly established as an entertainer and singer, he is sure to please all who hear him. - Also appearing on the pro¬ gram will be Mrs. Louis Robins, president of B'nal B'rlth Wom¬ en; Mrs. J. S. Resler, president of Council of Jewish Women, and Mrs. Harry Kollus, presi¬ dent of Sr. Hadassah. The tea which will follow the meeting will be in charge of the hospltaH Ity chairmen of the three groiips, who Include Mrs. Her¬ man Geichman, Mrs. Ben Kahn ^ana Mrs. Victor Ringer. ' Program chairmen of tfte three organizations are Mrs. Harry Schwartz, Mrs. Ben Yen¬ kln and Mrs. Bernard Feitllnger. All Jewish wonien in the cojn- munlty are cordially invited. As in the past, sale of articles pro¬ duced by the blind will be con¬ ducted that afternoon by the Council of Jewish Women Com¬ mittee for the Blind.
B'nai B'rith's A. D. L. Meeting is Jan. 23
Richard. E. GuLstadt, executive vlce-chalrmaii of the Antl-Defa¬ matlon League, will be principal speaker at B'nal B'rith's ADL meeting Jan. 2.1.
Nationally known for his work as administrator and in¬ novator in the field of Jewish public relations, Gutstadt will bring a first hand report on nat¬ ional ADL work and antl-Semlt¬ lsm to the people of Columbus.
At one time, the ADL official served aa president of District Grand Lodge No. 4, D'nal B'rlth

Mr. Gutstadt was then trans ferred from Cincinnati head quarters to take charge of this enlarged program of tlie League He became executive vlce-chatr man In November, 1947, and was succeeded as National Director by Benjamin R. Epstein of New York City.

Dr. Salo^ Baron to Open Center Cultural Series
Dr. Salo W. Baron, one of the outstanding authorities on Jew¬ i.sh life today, will appear a.s the opening speaker on the Jewish Center Cultural Series, o n Thursday, Jan. 25. It was an¬ nounced by Mark Feinknopf, chairman of the Cenler Adult Activities and Education Com¬ mittee.
The Adult Activities and Edu¬ cation committee has been work¬ ing Intensively during the past several weeks to develop a series of Informative and enter¬ taining programs on the highest level of educational and culturty Interest. In securing the services of Dr. Baron, Ihte committee has substantially aohieved this goal for the opening program.

"MInki on Weekdays," a hum- prous novel by Felicia Lamport.
"The Thousand Deaths of Mr. Small," a novel, by Gerald Kersh.

Louis Segal
One of the leading personali¬ ties In American Jewry, Mr. Louis Segal, will speak at the Ahavath Sholom synagogue Monday, Jan. 15, 8 p. m. Spon¬ sored by Branch #39 of the Jew¬ ish National Workers Alliance of America, the meeting will be open to the public.
Mr. Segal has been general secretary of tljo^--4latlonal Or¬ ganization fof nearly 25 years. He also heads the Labor Ziohist Committee for Relief and. Re¬ habilitation, and Is Honorary Secretary of the Jewish National Fund. He is a member of the World Zionist Actions Com¬ mittee, the Executive Committee of the World Union of Labor Zionist parties, the American Zionist Emergency Councli and numerous other American and International Jewish bodies.
Mr. Segal has made extensive surveys pf the Condition of the Jewish survivors in Europe, bas been in Israel frequently, and has had many conferences with leaders of government through¬ out the world.
The Jewish National Workers Alliance Is a Labor Zionist fra¬ ternal order, with branches throughout the U. S. and Canada. It is closely associated with His- tadrut, the federation of Jew- ish. workers in Palestine, of which David Ben Gurion, Israeli Premier, la the head.
The Colnmbas branch has been in existence for the past SS yeara, and Is now headed by Mr. Dave Felger.
