UJF Announces Allocations of 52 Funds
Richard J. Abel, president of the United Jewish Fund, announced this week that the Board of Di¬ rectors had met recently and made its allocations of funds pledged in the 19B2 annual campaign.
Mr. Aboi has stated that the Allo¬ cations Committee of the Fund held several meetings and reviewed the budgets and programs of all those agencies which had been In¬ cluded in tho Fund's campaign or had made requests for allocations.
Mr. Abei stated:
"The Allocations Committee, un¬ der the chairmanship of Abe I.
Yenkin, had the very difficult task of analyzing each agency's pro¬ gram and finances and deciding tho share of funds each should re¬ ceive.
' "The Committee based its de¬ cisions oh its evaluation off the extent to which each organization was performing a valid .social wel¬ fare "purpose entitling it to bo con¬ sidered a community responsibility, its efficiency, and the proportion of ita budget which should logically be met by Columbus.
"Another Important criteria en- terinig into the decision was the
evaluation of the Interest and po¬ tential support among our contrib¬ utors."
The Allocations Committee and the Board of Directors studied in some detail the reports of the Council of Jewish Federation and Welfare Funds which supplied the factual digests of the programs of the local agencies.
"We feel that the allocations finally decided upon represent the best possible compromise between the amounts requested by the agen¬ cies and the available funda, I feel that the result is one which will
meet with the approval of tho con- I tributors of the Fund." '
Mr. Abel added:
"Two new national agencies have been Included for the first time thia your. We are now supporting Brandels University and the Jewish War Veterans. Both those organi¬ zations have agreed to refrain from conducting Independent campaigns for operating funds.
"We are sure that our contribu¬ tors will appreciate the merits of Brandels aa tho contribution pf the Jewish community of America to higher education In this country.

New Year's Dance Reservations
Marty Kaufher. program chair¬ man for .the Tlfereth Israel Men's Club, and his committee are now taking reservations for the annual New Year's dinner-dance at Sroad St. Temple on New Year's Eve.

All members and non-members are urged to make reservations early, as capacity will be limited.

"Tfie Preidlach Xhat WouWn't iSpln", a hilarious comedy, will be presented by pupils of the Agudas Achim Sunday School. Mr. Mort Feigonbaum directed thia play and was assisted by Mrs. Samuel Rub¬ enstein.
Over 20 children are In the cast. Members of the 5th grade class at Broad St. Temple will present "The Wonder Trondel", a dramatization of Chanukah by Soifer. The cast is being directed by Mrs. Wolman. aaaiated by membera of the high school class.

Abe Wolman Stress.es Israel Request for Prompt Bond Payments
"It Is of utmost importance that every committor for Israel Bonds who can possibly do so, pay his committment b^ the end of the month."
With this ^rgent statement, Abe A. Wolman, chairman of the Co¬ lumbus Bonds for Israel committee, launched a drive for bond dollars during the remainder of 1902.
^Within the past few days I have
received a long and urgent tele¬ gram from Levi Eshkol, Xarael Minister of Finance. He hoa asked me to convey to the people of Co¬ lumbus bis sincere and earnest re¬ quest that every effort be made to send a maxlmurn of bond dollars to Israel by the end of 1962,'-' Mr. Wol¬ man said.''
Mr. Eshkol's cable, sent from Jerusalem, said In part: "In' the
paat few months it was my obliga¬ tion to Qubmit to Government of Israel two financial programs, one dealing with development of coun¬ try and second with balanced bud¬ get of foreign exchange. In both of these budgets extroardlnary reli¬ ance is placed on Income from State of Israel Bonds."
Mr. Wolman continued, "I know that every single person who has
made a pledge to purchase Israel Bonds regards that pledge aa a solemn obligation. I cannot stress too strongly the need for tho pay¬ ment of these pledges at once." .
