Local Welfare Federation Now Is 'Jewish Family Service'

Mr. Wouk will leach creative writing in the College of Arts nnd Sciences and Mr. Chufgin modern Hebrew literature in the Teachers Institute and Graduate Division. Mr Churgin comes to Yeshiva University in line with the faculty- student exchange program with Israeli schools of learning. Yeshiva Uni¬ versity, at Amsterdam Avenue nnd 186 Slreiit, New York City, the first Alhericpn University under Jewish auspices, opened its fiftyfiflh academic year with a reoard enrollment of more than 2,000 itudenla.

Prea. Ben A. Yenkin announced this Week that at the laat board ra^^^iyv^^ meeting of tho Jewish Welfare '''^^•^- " ^ Federation, the Constitution waa amended for the purpose of chang ing the name of the organizotlon to the Jewish Family Service.
Mr. Yenkin stated: "Since 1908- tho Columbua community ^haa known our organization as the Jewish Welfare Federation. In the early years before the creation of tho Community Chest and the United Jewlah Fund, the Jewish Welfare -Federation was the cor rect name to denote tho function of the agency. During those years tho organization was the central Jew¬ ish fund-ratsing agency. As such it raised funds for all local Jewish communal organizations and for a variety of national and overseas agencies. It also administered the Ohio Infants' Jt^Iome and the Schon¬ thal Community Center as well aa

The annual money-raising pro¬ ject of Ivrooybh Society will be a dinner on Sunday, Oct. 26, 6 p. m., at the Jewish, Center.
Ivreeyoh Society hag pledged a substantial amount of money to the Columbus Hebrew School. Ivreeyoh t^iaa provides treata to the children of the school in observance of alt Jewish holidt^ys; ^Iso acholastic and attendance^ awards.

JFS, UJF TO OCCUPY NEW OFFICES
Richard J. Abel and Ben A. Yen¬ kin, presidents of the United Jew¬ ish Fund and Jewish Family Serv¬ ice, announced this week that these agencies have combined their of¬ fices and now have a single head- qiiarters at 55 E. State St. The United Jowlsh Fund was formerly located at the Jewish Center. The Jewish Family Service, formerly known as the Jewish Welfare Fed¬ eration, had ita offices at 691 Bry¬ den Rd.
