July 1. marks the first official day for the new adminl.^- tration of the following B'nal B'rith officers: Pros., Richard Grundstein; Ist vlce-Pres., Saul Sokol; 2nd vlce- Pres., Meyer Mellman; Warden, Dr. B. T. Mindlin; Guardian. Sol Zeldin; Sec'y, Dr. Norman Berger. First official event under this administration should be fun for everyone . . , the annual family- basket picnic. Originally announced for June 22, the date has been changed to Sunday, July 20, at Buckeye Lake, starting at 1 p. m. Arrangements have been com¬ pleted to get all B. B. membera half-price rates all afternoon. All children's rides will be only 5c and adulta only Sc (on all rides except the roller coaster>. Excursion boats, children 15o; adults, 25c, Swimming, 25c; roller skating, 2Sc. Picnic will be held at Picnic Point, reserved for B'nal B'rith. More details later, but keep this date open for the best B'nai B'rith picnic ever held. Mrs. J. D. Schecter Elected President of B'nai B'rith Women's District Grand Lodge No. 2 STAUB ELECTED TEMPLE LEADER Mr. Staub Milton Staub is the new preaident of Bryden Rd. Temple. Mr. Stoub was elected at Temple Israel's an¬ nual dinner meeting recently at Winding Hollow Country Club. His fellow officers will be: Jack Res¬ ler, lat vice-pres; Leonard Kohn, 2nd v-p; Trustees, 3-year term - Samuel Shinbach, Sol Morton Isaac, Dr. Lewis Basch, Herbert Schlff. Jack Ratner; Trustee, 2- yeir term ¦ - Leon Friedman; Trus¬ tee, 3-year term — Leonard Stern, past president. Mr. Staub was born in Kaschau, Hungary. Just a few months prior to World War I, the Staub family emigrated lo Akron. The entire Jewish community is Invited to this holy occasion and also to the banquet, 8 p. m., on the same day. o FURMAN IS NEW JWV COMMANDER B'nai B'rith of Columbus—Zion Lodge 62 and women's Chapter 127 -were greatly honored during the centennial celebration of District Grand Lodge No. 2, held here laat Saturday thru Tuesday, at the Deshler-Wallick Hotel. Mrs. Joaeph Schecter was elected president of the District women's division and was Installed at the banquet which closed the historic four-day conclave of gome 7B0 dele¬ gates of the Great Frotemal order. The local lodge was honored by receiving one of B'nal B'rith's highest membership awards for having the biggest net member¬ ship gain In District lodges having moro than 100 membera. The women's chapter was similarly honored for achieving tho top net memberahlp gain In the large- community classification. Allan Tarshish, outgoing preal¬ dent of the District Grand Lodge, waa honored tiB the most out¬ standing district leader In the na¬ tion, as well as for his community and human relations work in Co¬ iumbus. I. W. Garpk was named as one of 33 delegates to attend the Su¬ preme Lodge Triennial convention in Washington next year. Matusoff be¬ comes executive head of 95 lodgea in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Miss¬ ouri, (Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and New Mexico. Dr. Abrom L. Sachar, president of Brandeia University, was prin¬ cipal speaker at the installation banquet Tuesday. Among the Columbus members who were elected to various offi¬ cers were: Sidney li. Katz, to the General Committee; Allan Tarshiah and Justin Slllman, representatives to the Supreme Lodge convention (Rabbi J. D. Folkman, alternate); Mra. Commander Furman Capitol Post 122, Jewish War Veterans, Is holding Its annual in¬ stallation of newly-elected officera for 1852-63, Tuesday, 8 15 p. m., at Broad St. Temple. She has alao served as president of Frankiln County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary.
