WOMEN TUESDAY NIGHT
Fun and surprises will mark B'nai B'rlth Women's opening meeting Tuesday, .8 p. m.. at thp Jewish Center. Mrs. Edward Goldblatt, pro¬ gram chairman, will preaent a quiz show, entitled "Something for Nothing," as part of the program.
Two stars from WBNS-TV will perform — Tom Gleba as quiz¬ master; Al Boyd aa songmaster. BBW's Mra. Max (Betty) Zisklnd will be musicmaster.
MANY VALUABLE PRIZES WILL BE presented during the quiz show, plus several door and attendance prizes.
There will be "grab bags" for the first 500 women at the party.
The hospitality committee haa i^anned a lavish dessert buffet as the evening's climax.

The Adult Social and Young Adult Planning committees of the Jew¬ ish Center thla week announced their presentation of a "first"* for the local Jewish community — the initial appearance of Gladys Little Thomas, an outstanding theatrical personality In this city. Misa Thomas is from the Beatrice Kayp type achool of entertainment.
Long active with the Players Club, Miss Thomas was acclaimed by newspaper critics as a "find" and the outstanding comedienne in "Tlcket-oi-Leave Man" thia past summer with the Stadium Playera.
AS AN ADDED inducement to the Jewish public to attend to- night's Yom Kippur dance at the Center, another well-known artist will be featured; Mr. Kenneth De- vore, composer and pianist. Mr. Devore will accompany Miss Thomas,

In connection with the observ¬ ance of the Festival of Succoth, the Hebrew School will be open, for the following two weeka, on Mon¬ day and Tuesday only; Sept. 21, 22. 28 and 29.
Prof, Beckman In "Hall of Fame"
Professor Theodore Nl Beckman of the Ohio State Univeralty has been informed that the Committee on Awards of the Boston Confer¬ ence on Distribution, headed by Dr. Karf T. Compton. President of tlie Massachusetts Institute of Technology, hM aelected his name to be entered in thff Hall of Fame in Difltributlon.
The honor will be conferred up¬ on Dr. Beckman at the Hotel Stat¬ ler in Boaton on Oct. 19. In connec- tion with the 25th anniversary celebration of the Boaton Confer¬ ence on Distribution^ which has been sponsored In cooperation with Harvard Univeralty, Boaton Univer¬ sity, M.I.T., and many other lead¬ ing universities.
The Hall of Ifame is intended to give recognition to the men and women throughout the world who have made significant contribu¬ tions to the advancement of science in their fields in tjie last 25 years, 'to these distinguished au¬ thorities Dr. Compton will present Individual citations on behalf of the Committee & Conference.
Council Women Greet Members at Annual Luncheon Tuesday Afternoon at Ilonka's
A tea has been planned to honor new members of the Columbus section of the National Council of Jewish Women Tueaday, 2 p. m., at Ilonka's Provincial House.
Mrs. Rudolph Stern jr., chairman of the membership drive, i& in charge of the arrangements.
The afternoon has been planned to acquaint new members with the diversified activitioa in which Council participates and contrib¬ utes. Chairman of the various com¬ mittees will be present and ready to acquaint and enlist the new rhembcrs in phases of Council work.

Institute Teacher
Opening se/iaion for the fall term of the Institute of Jewish Studies at the Center has been scheduled for Wedneaday, Oct. 14, it was an¬ nounced by Mr. Harry Schwartz, chairman of t.'-.e Institute commit¬ tee.
An expanded curriculum, includ¬ ing a special course In Teaching Methods for religious school teach¬ ers, will be offered the 100-pIus students, expected to enroll in this year's Institute.
Dr. Harvey Goldberg, who will be remembered for his dynamic pre¬ sentation of last year'a course on French Nationalism and the Drey¬ fus Caae, will return to the Insti¬ tute by popular demand to teach a course in Out«tahdltig Personalt- ti«s In American Jewish History.
Other courses' will include Ele- menUuT' aind AdTanotMi Hfbrew. Bible, The Works^of Sholem Aleich. em A ItzohAlc Peretz (Yiddish Lit¬ erature) and Contemporary Jewish Thought, by Dr, Marvin Fox, who will again serve as Director of the Institute.

Requests for facilities other than small meeting rooms must bo nuule In writing at least one month In advance of dale of func¬ tion and can be considered final on receipt of written conflmuu tlon. A Koom Reservation form must be completed Indicating facilities and arrangement desired within 10 days of the function and signed by a responsible representative of the organization.

Citizenship Class
The Americanization and Citizen¬ ship committee of Council of Jew- Ish Women announcea the opening of the Citizenship classes Tuesday, at the Jewish Center.
Classes will meet on Tueaday and Thursday, 8 p. m., of each week. AU persons interested in becoming citizens, please attend the meeting Tuesday, to register for classes.
Mrs. Herman Ljeverman, 751 S. Remington Rd., is chairman of this committee. A reception will follow the registration.
Pizza Party Sunday
A pizza party is being planned for the next regular Young Adult Lounge Sunday, 8:30 p. m. to 11:30.
The lounge, under the sponsor, ship of the Young Adult Plahning committee, will also feature social dancing as part of Its program..
Admission to the lounge is 26c for Center members, 35c for non- members.
