Mother's Day Party At Home for Aged
A Mother's Day celebration will be held at thc Columbus Jewish Home for the Aged this Sunday, 1 p. m.. sponsored by the Auxiliary of the Home. Mrs. I, Nutis, chairman of tho Auxiliary, announces that an interesting program has been prepared. Steven Kaplan will pro¬ vide religious records appropriate for the occEislon.

Be<:kelman. who has brought to the JDC post more than 20 yt-nra of experience in welfare and ref¬ ugee affairs, served during part of World War IJ with tho.-^;nited States (Office pf Foreign Relief and Kehabilitation. and in 1045 was named assistant director of the Intergovernmental Committee on Refugees. He directed tho estab¬ lishment and supervision of aid programs for uprooted and dls placed persona in various countries of Europe, Africa, and Asia, in¬ cluding China. Beckelman also served with the t/nitfKi Nations Re- lief and 'Rehabilitation Adminis¬ tration fUNRRA), focusing his activities in North Africa where he founded the firat refugee camps ever established in Casablanca.
Lato Jn 1952 and in 1053, with the launching of anti-Jewish in- cltemenLH in the Iron Curtain countries, Beckelman ordered the establishment of the first shelter for Jewish escapees from tho So¬ viet orbit. This shelter was act up in West Berlin and served as a way-station to the free world for thouaands of men, women and children.
