High Holiday Bond Appeal Opens With Meeting on Sept. 4
Tlfereth Israel Congregation will hold Its annual Appeal for Israel Ilnnds on the aecohd day of Rosh Hashonah,. William Schiff, chairman 'jf the Columbus High Holiday Bond Committee, announced. YOUNO MARRIED COUPLES SCHEDULE MEETINGS
Temple Tifereth Israel's Young Married Couples Club discussion group has scheduled meetings on the third Tueaday of each month, for the coming season.
Next Tuesday's meeting will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Bttum, 664 S. James Rd., with Rab¬ bi Nathan Zelizer as featured speaker. His subject will be "The High Holy Days." with discussion to follow.

Candlelight Chapter 888 of B'nai B'rith Women is sponsoring a boat cruise on Buckeye Lake Saturday, Aug. 25. The boat will leave from the pier behind Lake Breeze Hotel, at 9:30 p. m.
After the cruise, the group will gather In tho party room of Tom's Restaurant. 3624 E. 5th Ave.
In case of rain, tho "passengers" will meet at the restaurant, at 10:30 p. m.

Ira Monroe, a leading business and community figure, will open his home for a parlor meeting Tuesday night, Sept. 4, at which time an outstanding out-of-town speaker will bo present to spur the advance sales for the Holiday Ap¬ peal and the Fall campaign.
The national Bonds for Israel campaign Is running well ahead of the 1955 effort and It is generally anticipated that results this year will top every previous year, with th'j exception of the opening cam¬ paign In 1951.
The 1956 goal nationally is $75,- 000,000 in sales.
THE FALL campaigns for Israel Bond sales in Columbus have al¬ ways gotten off to good starts through the High Holiday Appeals which have become traditional here.
Agudas Ac'tlm was the first Congregation to participate, begin¬ ning in 1953. Since that time, Tlf¬ ereth Israel, Beth Jacob and Ahavas Sholom have joined In tho effort.
Each year the national organi¬ zation presentH a gift to each par¬ ticipating Congregation whose .sales run above a certain figure. Last year the gift was a hand- wrought bible, made in Jerusalem. This year's gift will be a copy of the famous Hagaddah designed by ' the late Arthur Szyk.

A resolution urging the United Statea to counteract alleged Arab discrimination against Americans on the basis of their religion was adopted by the War Veterans.
The following program was In: eluded   in   the   resolution:
• Prohibiting entry into the United 3tatea of persona from Arab at(itc'3 which bar Americans be¬ cause  of   religious   beliefs.
• Eliminating subsidies to Egypt and Arab states unless they permit Americans of any faith "full part¬ icipation   Including   residence."
• Prohibiting any U. S. govern¬ ment   agency    from   considering
religious affiliation in selecting personnel for assignment In Arab countries.

TRY-OUTS SUNDAY FOR 'MANY MOONS'
Open try-outs for "Many Moons' will be held Sunday, 2:30 p. m., in the air-conditioned Adult Lounge of the Jewish Center. Both children and adults are needed for the cast of this project which is co-spon sored by Gallery Playera and the Parents Group of the Jewish Cen ter  Prc-School.
Additional try-outs will be held the next two Tuesday and Thurs¬ day evenings at 8:00.
