Joseph Hoodin, prominent attor¬ ney and industrialist of Cincinnati, will apeak at the home of William L. Goodman, 51 Eastmoor Blvd., Thursday night, in a parlor meet¬ ing arranged to assist the High Holiday Israel Bond Appeal.
Mr. Goodman, active in com¬ munity and public affairs, ia in¬ viting a large number of people to his home to meet and hear the dynamic Cinclnnatian who was twice hla communit/a UJA chair¬ man and now serves on both the national UJA Campaign Cabinet and the Board of Governora of. Israel Development Bonds.
Ben Lurie, prominent attorney and community leader, and a close friend of Mr. Hoodln, Is assisting in the plans for a good turn out for the meeting.
Mr. Hoodin attended the Jeru¬ salem Conference In 1950 as a member of the American delega¬ tion when the plans were drawn for launching the Independence Is¬ sue of Israel Bonds, an event which took place in the Spring of 1061. He plans on participating In

TERM OPENS AT HEBREW SCHOOL
Columbua Hebrew School's fall term begins Monday at the Jewish Center.

Tbe school's curriculum includes the study of the Hebrew language, Jewlah history, bible, religion, cua- toms and ceremonies, prayers artd aonga, and preparation of boys for Bar Mitzvah. Girls will also be pre¬ pared for Bas Mitzvah.
Three buses will accommodate boys and grirls to and from school. All the younger children who are on the first trip will be picked up from Qi^hUc school. Children on the 2nd and 3rd trips will be picked up from their homes.
Schedule of classes: first trip, 3:45 to 5; 2nd trip, 5-6:15; 3rd trip, 6:15 to 7:30.

Council of Jewish Women Mem¬ bership committee Is engaged In adding new membera to its group. Thia year, new membera who so desire will be placed in small groups to meet monthly, either in¬ dividually or with eacrf" other. Also each mpnth, all of the groups will participate in various council ac¬ tivities.
According to Mrs. Milton Parker. Membership chairman, this plan has" been adopted to make new¬ comers feel at home In the new community and In Council. It of¬ fers an opportunity to make friends with othei- new membera, and to meet and work with older members.

DR. GOLDBERG
Directs Institute
Dr. Harvey Goldberg has been appointed acting director of the Institute of Jewish Studies for the 1956-57 academic year, It was an¬ nounced by Max I. 2ilsklnd, chair¬ mah of the Center Institute Com¬ mittee.
The popular and dynamic Dr. Goldberg will replace Dr^ Marvin Fox, who la on leave as the reci¬ pient of Ohio State University's Elizabeth Clay Howard Fellowship for post doctoral study at .Harvard University.
Dr. Goldberg will be returning to the Institute faculty after an absence of over a year, during which time he traveled extensively in France and the Middle-East. Former students will remember Dr. Goldberg's exciting treatment of The Dreyfuss Case In hia course on Nationalism in France, as well as his more recent lectures on the development of the "Shtet'l" In Eastern Europe.
This semester, In addition to serving as acting director of the Institute, Dr. Goldberg will teach a course titled: "Recent Jewish History — The Nationalist Move¬ ment."
