W Day of the United Jewish Fund and Council's ¦ 1963 Women's Division will take place on Wednesday, March 20. The women who will go out on general solicitations will meet at the home of Mrs. Leon Schottenstein at 50 N. Drexel, at 9:30 a,m.

In Washington, Senator Hugh Scott, Pennsylvania Re¬ publican, noted a State Department apology to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency for the barring of its Washington cor¬ respondent, Milton Friedman, from a press briefing. He told the Senate "this should be called to the attention of the many other agencies of our Government, which make wide use of secret briefings for selected members of the press."
In Chicago, a group of doctors at Michael Reese Hos¬ pital here, a Jewish Instltut-lon, have raised $10,000 to fi¬ nance a fellowship for a young doctor at Blspebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark, In appreciation of that Institu¬ tion's role in the rescue of about 7,000 Danish Jews who escaped to Sweden during the Nazi occupation of the coun¬ try In 1943. Selection ot the candidate for post-doctoral study will be made by the Blspebjerg medical staff next month. It Is expected lhat the candidate will begin his fel¬ lowship here next summer.
In Jerusalem, the cabinet reiterated its decision to ac¬ cept the offer by the Rothschild Memorial Group to finance the establishment af an educational television network in Israel. At the same time, the Government issued a long- awaited ruling, prohibiting members of the coalition from voting against the project when it comes up again for de¬ bate in the Knesset, Israel's Parliament. The House had postponed a decision on the measure several times during the past few weeks, while various coalition members had sought permission to vote against the bill.
In New York, allocations of $10,059,644 for programs aiding 170,000 Nazi victims in 32 countries were granted by. the board of-directors of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany at the close of its annual meeting. Jacob Blaustein of Balthnore, senior vice president of the Conference, presented the budget for 1963. The allocations will raise to $100,000,000, In all, the sums granted by the Conference since 1954.

In Tel Aviv, the IsraeU Aeronautical Society said that a "series" of Shavit-type rockets will be used In a special space probe project in which the society will cooperate with the Haifa Technion.
Technion scientists are already working on Instruments for the project, which will probe the upper atmosphere. Plans call for recovery of the Instrmnents after the launch.

Rabbis Seek Help From Soviet Clergy
