Hie most intensive CashMbbilization Campaign since the spring of 1967 Is now und^ way by the United Jewish Fund and Coundl, to get maximiun cash payments^on current pledges to be transmitted immediately to Israel, according to Morriis L. Mattlin, Assbciate Treasure- of the UJFC, and the Ohairman of the Cash Collection effort.
In an urgent plea issued by ^
Edward Schlezinger, President of the UJFC, Samuel , M. Melton, IVeasurer, and fUr. Mattlin, cash rpayment'On pledges, was dhphasized. Hie Crisis in Israd calls for CASH NOW!
Ihe gravity of the situation facing Israd cannot BTo?^^ emphasized. Russian pilots are flying Russian MIG fdanes... Russian SAM 3 Missiles are aimed at Israel's cities. Israel's economy is strained to the lM«aking point to pay for planes and material for . defense. '
l^ael's people are taxed almost beyond endurance, lliere are no funds for the sqciai wdfare needs of the people'who have still not been absorbed into the eoniomy of thp country, and for those who are still
coming to Israd as new immigrants.
Thousands of new im¬ migrants arrive in Israd ev^ month. They come with a dream-a dr^m bf a future safe from opfvession, fear and hunger. It is a dream created in part by the of America and the Jews of Cdumbus, who have stood beside Israel ui evoy hour of trial and anguish.
To transport a Jewish family to freedom in Israd from discrimination- and worse in countries behind the bon Curtain, to feed and house them, to care for than until they can care for themsdves, takes money- thousands of doUars-which the government of Israd cannot afford, under present conditions. Our promises gave these hew immigrants their dream-only CASH NOW cah make that dream
come true.
Tbe Cash Mobilization drive has been organized along Regular Campaign lines, with teams from each of the Major Campaign Divisions coming daily and eadi evening to the Esther Cr Mdton Community Seryices Buildiiig. to make calls for cash. To date the drive has been extremdy successful, and the flow of cash uito the office of thb UJFC has been accderated tremendously, (Continued to Page 7)

An Eyptian government spokesman in C^iro warned the U.S. not to give in to "pressure groups" ad¬ vocating the sale of more jet aircraft to Israel.
