The Jcw'slt Daily News while ad mittnig that Dr Stephen S Wise has rendered great service to Jewry, thinks, however, that by his Christmas sermon he has done so much harm to the cause of Judaism in America that it cannot be forgiven The paper thinks that at when Jewry struggles for its eMStence in the face of the strongest tendencies toward assimilation, Dr Wise's sermon on Jesus Was a blow not for Jewish religion, but for Jewish nationalism as well, "We will not per¬ mit a propaganda for Jews and assimila¬ tion to be enwrapped in the banner of ?ion," declares the paper "We will not go to Nazareth I"
In a signed article in the Daily News, its editor Mr Gedaliah Buhlik takes a tew passages from Dr Wise's stateihent after his sermon had aroused a storm of protest among the orthodox, and the comment of a Christian pastor and rives at the conclusion that there can be no compromise between Zionism and Jesus propaganda. The writer also re- dalls the firm stand against any pro- Christ propaganda taken by Achad Haam, who was himself neither a Rabbi nor an orthodox
