to Lebanon and Syria.
TEL AVIV (WNS)—An Israeli army spokesman has
confirmed reports from the United States sources that
North Korean pilots are flying in the Egyptian Air
Force. He said it is believed that between 10 and 20
North Korean pilots are already in service of the
Egyptians. "
TEL AVIV (WNS)-Rep. Ogden Reid (D. N.Y.) told
a press conference here that Congress will adopt the
amendments to the trade bill linking United States
trade concessions to the Soviet Union with Soviet
agreement to end harassment and restrictions on Jews

Israel took a calculated risk
when it allowed a hijacked
Lebanese airliner to land at
Lod Airport Thursday,
Minister Without Portfolio
Israel Galili disclosed here.
"We preferred to take the
risk because we feared the
hijacker might blow up the
plane in the air and we would
bear responsibility because
we did not prevent it." Galili
said on a television interview
- Friday night.
The hijacker, 37 year-old
Muhammed Atouni who is a
citizen of Libya, was
remanded in custody for 15
days by a Jerusalem
Magistrate Friday. Judge
Moshe Goldberg denied his
request' for release pending
trail. ,The judge described
Atouni'sact as "serious." If
convicted he faces a possible
-life-sentence^—— -----
The. hijacker was sub¬
jected to prolonged in¬
terrogation Friday night and
was examined by a
psychiatrist. He claimed
throughout that his action
was motivated by a desire to
prove that Arab and Jewish
nations could live in peace.
He claimed that he did not
intend to use the two pistols
he brandished when he •
seized a Lebanese Middle
East Airways Boeing 707
oyer Cyprus and ordered it
to fly to Israel. The plane,
with 125 passengers and
crew members, was on a
flight from Benghazi to
Beirut. It was permitted to
take off from Lod Thursday
after Atouni was removed by
Israeli security forces.'
Evidence Hijacker:
• Was An Arab
Atouni's interrogators said
there was no" doubt that the
hijacker, is of Arab origin
.because his Arabic speech
left no room for doubt. They
made the statement in
response to allegations by
pi
' -t
the Libyan Ambassador to-<
Iraq that Atouni's manner of
speech raised serious doubts
that he was an Arab. The
widespread Arab claim that'
Atouni was an Israeli agent
was also refuted when Radio
Tripoli reported that he was
a native of Zintan Village
and had a Libyan passport

individual families and set
up an appointment for this
very important visit.
In an effort to provide the
best possible school ex¬
perience for each child, the
Early Childhood Services
Department has cut back on
the enrollment to decrease
the teacher-pupil ratio. As a
result, the morning session
is now filled to capacity, with
the exception of the two day
a week Play Group for two
year olds where there are
still several openings. There
are" also a few openings in
the afternoon Pre School

UNITED NATIONS
(JTA)—The Security
Council adopted
unanimously on Aug. 15 a
resolution condemning
- Israel for its interception of
a Lebanese jetliner and
warning that If this type of
act is repeated the Council
"will consider taking
adequate steps to enforce
this ' resolution." The
resolution, sponsored jointly
by Britain and France, also
called on the International
Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) to consider the
Council action when
discussing adequate
1 measures to safeguard in¬
ternational civil aviation
against such incidents. The
ICAO general assembly is
scheduled to convene Aug: 28
in Rome. The resolution also
told Israel to "desist from
any and all acts that violate
Lebanon's sovereignty and
territorial integrity. The
resolution stated that the
Council was "gravely
concerned that such an act
carried out by Israel, a
member of the UN, con¬
stitutes a serious in¬
terference with international
civil,' .aviation..." "and
"...could jeopardize the lives
and safety of passenger and
crew." i The resolution also
charged Israel with violating
Lebanese sovereignty and

Israeli Officials Angered
By Security Council Vote
JERUSALEM (WNS)-
Although there was no im¬
mediate official government
reaction to the Security
Council condemnation of
Israel's interception of a
Lebanese airliner, officials
privately expressed anger at
What they considered a one¬
sided ruling. Israeli
newspapers said the Council
vote will not prevent Israel
from taking action against
terrorists. Gen. David
Elazar, chief of staff, said
before the Council action
that Israel has "the right to
exist and defend itself" and
that Israel will .continue to
strike at terrorists and their
bases. Earlier/speaking at
Kibbutz Naan, Premier
Golda Meir said Israel will
