Campaign Closing Wednesday
A Family Celebration Is Planned
The Columbus Jewish Federation's 1978 Campaign
Closing Event, "A Family
Affair," will bring together
two dedicated members of
the Federation family
Edythe Furman, a past
Women's Division Chairwoman, and Morris Skilken, a
past general campaign
chairman, have been appointed event co-chairpersons and, in addition, will
participate as mistress and
master of ceremony for the
evening.
Scheduled to begin at 7:30
p.m. on Apr. 26, at the
Agudas Achim Synagogue,
this year's campaign closing
has been planned in a unique
fashion, according to the
chairpersons. Campaign
achievements will be celebrated and, recognition will
be given to campaign leadership and volunteers. In addition; families which have
two ",r more generations
working in this year's campaign will he given a special
honor, -'

Interspersed throughout
the evening's activities will
be entertainment representative of the various ages
within the Columbus Jewish
community. The heritage
House Players (residents)
and the Hillel Dancers will,
share their talents with those
in attendance. The Columbus Hebrew School Choir, a
group of 10-12 year-olds

Ghitman, will also entertain.

Cabinet Continues Policy
Against West Bank Withdrawal
JERUSALEM (WNS) -
Israel appeared to be still
firmly opposed to any withdrawal from the West Bank
after a Cabinet meeting Apr.
16 although the government
seemed to try to present its
stand in more palatable
terms. Cabinet Secretary
Aryeh Naor confirmed that
the Cabinet supported Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan
in his statements at two re
cent public appearances at
which he stressed that Israel
accepted that United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 called for negotiations with Jordan. But Naor
stressed, as did Dayan, that
Israel believes the resolution
is not a basis for "discussions of the future of Judaea
and Samaria." Israeli Premier Menachem Begin's
claim that the 242 provision

breties join to commemorate
the glorious history of Israel.
Former President /Gerald
Ford will be the keynote
speaker of the evening, and
he'll be the featured guest on
the Ohio Theatre stage along
with Ohio Governor James
Rhodes, Lieutenant
Governor Richard Celeste
and Israel's Consul General
Asher Nairn. Providing a
look at Israel in music and
dance will be .Broadways
"Tevye" Harry Goz, who
played the role for the longest run in "Fiddler on the
Roof," dancer Elaine Petri-
coff, Opera Star Misha
Raitzen, Singer Kenny
Karen, and Israeli Symphony Orchestra Star Stella
Richmond.
40,000 - 50,000
People Rally In
Support Of Begin
TEL AVIV (WNS) - Some
40,000-50,000 people jammed
the square in front of the City
Hall Apr. 15 in support of the
policies of Premier Menachem Begin. They roundly
booed Begin's critics who
staged a similar rally here
two weeks earlier urging the
government to moderate its
territorial'policies in the interest of peace. Chanan
Abramson, an artist, said
that the pro-Begin rally was
held to counter the "Pe^ace

Dayan said the resolution
spoke of "states" and if Israel accepted it as a basis for
discussion of the West Bank,
the implication would be
recognition .of Palestinian
claims for a state there.
However, "the resolution
asks us to withdraw from
territories we captured from
all the neighbors, 'including
Jordan," Dayan acknowledged. Israel, however, does .
not recognize that Jordan
ever had any legitimate
claim to sovereignty over
Ihe West Bank. In a speecn
at Beersheba Apr. 15, Dayan
said that Israel did not regard its "self rule" plan for
the West Bank Arabs as

Annual Holocaust Memorial
Program Set For May 3
The Columbus Board of
Rabbis in conjunction with
the local Synagogues and
Temples will be sponsoring
the Annual Holocaust
Memorial program to be
held this year on Wednesday, May 3 at 8 p.m. at the
Beth Jacob Synagogue.
Known in Hebrew as "Yom
Hashoah V'Hagivurah,"
"The Day of Destruction and
Valour," uy Holocaust Day
program is being observed
by Jews throughout the
world to commemorate the
martyrdom of six million
Jews who died thru the
hands of the Nazis during the
Second World War.
Rabbi David Stavsky,
President of the Columbus
-Bqgrj] of Rabbis, met wjth
representatives,   of   the
various temples and synagogues to plan this special
community wide program.
Mr. Ben Grinblatt a survivor
of the Holocaust^will be this
year's chairman. Rabbi
Stavsky said tha't although
for the past fourteen years
the program has been sponsored by the Beth Jacob Con-,
gregation and its Brotherhood', the dramatically accelerated interest, in- the
Holocaust during the last
number of years by Jewish
communities throughout the
world has given impetus that
this program receive wider
support by our own community. The Columbus Board of
Rabbis and the affiliated
congregations, therefore,
will tie $ie qew sponsoring
