To Lead Services
At Beth Am
Beth Am Congregation announces that Rabbi Rebecca
Alpert, one of the first
woman Reconstructionist
Rabbis in America, will be in
ColumbuS to conduct Beth
Am services Friday night,
Nov. 30 at 8 and Saturday
morning, Dec. 1 at 10 at the
Jewish Center. Rabbi Alpert
will speak on the topic, "The
Role of Women in Jewish
Life." In addition, Rabbi Alpert will lead a study session
Saturday morning.
Rabbi Alpert graduated
from the Reconstructionist
Rabbinical College in 1976.
At that timet she received
the Levin Award for "Best

the Rabbinate" and "Judaism at the Worlds Parliament of Religions," and has
served on many panels such
as one on Jewish Woman and
Ethnicity at the Balch Institute, and at Bucknell University, Philadelphia.
Presently, Rabbi Alpert is
an instructor at the Reconstructionist Congregation of
Pacific Palisades, California.
The Columbus Jewish

Dayan Appears
In Columbus
General Moshe Dayan,
former Foreign Minister of
Israel, was'in Columbus, one
of his stops on a speaking
tour of the U.S., Monday,
Nov. 19. He spoke before a
large crowd at the Ohio
Theatre on his perspective of
the current problems in
Iran, and on the Camp David
negotiations and the situation in the Middle East since
then.
Dayan said he thinks the
hi* "presence of U.S. military
\ 11 i forces should be more seen"
in the Middle East so the
B'nai B'rith Women and
Gallery Players actors and
actresses are all set for their
opening performance of
"Jack and the Beanstalk," a
children's mucial classic,
which opens Friday, Nov. 23
at the Jewish Center auditorium.

the Partner for Peace
Luncheon on Sunday, Dec. 2
in behalf of the Women's
Division, State of Israel
Bond drive.
Lipsky has successfully
combined an outstanding
career as lawyer and author
with service in many Jewish
causes. He is former President and now serves as
Chairman of the Board of
Directors of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a worldwide service covering news
of Jewish interest. '
Vice President of the
American Jewish League for
Israel, Lipsky has attended
the World Zionist Congresses
in Jerusalem in recent years
and is a member of the
World Zionist Congress
Court. He has lectured
extensively on a variety of
legal and political topics concerning the Jewish people,
,arid was formerly Editor of
the New Palestine. In these
efforts, he has followed in
the tradition of his father,
with a savings for those purchasing their tickets prior to
the day of the performance.

"These  are  two  young
executive   staff   persons
been obvious to all who have
dealt with them over the last
years," Schiffman said. "It
is only fitting that their skills
and dedication should be
appropriately recognized."
While both Fox and GUI
have a long list of responsibilities concerning the campaign, budgeting, planning,
administration and supervision of the Federation,
Fox's primary responsibility
is to the UJFC and Gill's is to
Budgeting and Planning.
Fox has been a member of
the Federation staff since
June of 1976. Just prior to his
appointment to Staff Associate at that time, he served
a one-year internship at the
New-Orleans Federation.
The Columbus native graduated from Bexley High
School. He attended the
Loyola University School of
Law in New Orleans and the
Yeshiva University in New
York City before entering
Tulane University, where he
received   his   Masters   in
Eleazar Lipsky ,

Richard Widmark and Spencer Tracy, respectively. A
historical novel set in California in 1890 was published
in 1973 by The Meredith
Press, entitled "The Devil's
Daughter." "Malpractice"
was published in 1975.
Lipsky was formerly an

courtesy of The Union. Mrs.
Joan Wernz, promotion
director at the Union, will
commentate the show.
Musical selections wiU be
provided by Cantor Yehuda
Shifman of Agudas Achim
Congregation.
Admission to the luncheon
will be by the-1979 minimum
purchase of $500 in Israel
Bonds through the Women's
Division. Mrs. Emil Rosen/
co-chairman, with Mrs. Herbert Grossman, of the Partners for Peace Luncheon',

For Life," sponsored by the
Young Men's and Young
Women's divisions of the Columbus Jewish Federation,
will take place Saturday,
Dec. 1 at Winding Hollow
Country Club.
Senator Lowell Weicker
from Connecticut, a longtime supporter of Israel, will
be the guest speaker for the
two divisions' major •"kick-
off" event of the 1980 United
Jewish Fund Campaign. A
•eception begins at' 7 p.m.
with dinner, program and
disco music to follow.
Dietary laws will be observed.
