Swiss Jewish Socialist MP Resigns
GENEVA (WNS) — A Jewish Socialist member of Parliament from Zurich, Emanuel Hurwitz, has resigned from the
legislature and from the "party following la manifesto the

ationOrganization and its struggle as well as for the freedom
movement in San Salvador, Turkey and for the Polisario (in
Western Sahara fighting the Moroccan government)." Hurwitz, in his letter of resignation, condemned what he said was
the politically false claim that the PLO struggle could lie
grouped in the same category as the struggle of the other
freedom movements and thereby condemning Israel -
together with fascist regimes.
Support Growing To Declare
Wallenberg Honorary Canadian Citizen
TORONTO (JTA)—Support for the Jewish community's
call on the government to declare Raoul Wallenberg an
honorary citizen of Canada is growing, it was reported by the
League of Human Rights of B'nai B'rith Canada which initiated the call. The Canadian Council of Christians and Jews,
the Swedish-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese-
Canadian National Council, and the Federation Internationale des Droits de L'homme (International Federation for.
Human Rights) have added their voices to the request, in ,
separate letters to Secretary of State Serge Joyal. The League of B'nai B'rith had asked the government to honor Wal-.
lenberg for his heroic efforts in rescuing 100,000 Jews in Hungary from death at the hands of the Nazis, during World War
II.
