AN ERROR CORRECTED
In thejClironiclc account last week of the funeral of the late Mr. Nathan Skul¬ ler, a mistake was inadvertently made concerning the rabbi who ofTiciated and delivered the eulogy. Although Rabbi Isaac Werne of the Agudath Achim Con gregation was present. Rabbi Jacob Tar¬ shish of the Bryden Road Temple offici¬ ated and made Ihe '^Hesped."
HUNDREDS ATTEND CELE- , BRATION AT DAYTON VIEW TEMPLE LAST SUNDAY .
The officers of the Dayton View Tem¬ ple take this means of thanking Rabbi Ur. Isaac Werne of the Agudath Achim Congregation, Columbus, for his kind¬ ness in consenting to deliver an address at the meeting held last Sunday at their Synagogue in honor of the dedication of a new Sefer Torah.
Besides Rabbi Werne the following also spoke: Mr. Isadore Mellman, Mr. M. Dubinsky^ Rabbi Finkelstein and Dr. Feffer,
the Brotherhood organizations there. He addressed meetings and discussed Broth¬ erhood work and aided in the develop¬ ment of programs for the coming year. In each city Rabbi Bookstabcr had the active cooperation of the local rabbis. In San Francisco, Rabbi Louis I. Newman assisted him. In Los Angeles, Rabbi Edgar Magnin's assistant, Mr. Dubin, worked with him, and in Seattle Rabbi Samuel Koch gave him every possible co¬ operation.
From the large cities Rabbi Bookstabcr went to Montana where he visited the cities of Billings and Helena. In these cities,Rabbi Bookstabcr experienced the thrill that comes from bringing to a peo¬ ple a spiritual message which they have hccn awaiting for many days. In Bill¬ ings there are but a handful of Jews, but the spirit of Judaism, Rabhi Book¬ stabcr stated, was strong in their hearts and in their Ininds, and "my visit to theni was like bringing water to those who are thirsty on a desert island." During hi< two day.s in tliat town he was presenle'1 to every Jewish family, and on Friday evening when he preached, he had a one hundred per cent attendance at the serv¬ ice. A committee was organized follow¬ ing (he services to take charge of ai«- gregational and religious work in that city. Mr. Max Friedwald was made chair¬ man and will be in cliargc of the re¬ ligious activity.
The Same Spirit
In Helena the same spirit prevailed. Two days were spent by Rabbi Book¬ stabcr in tliat town also, during which time he preached at the local hotel at which practically all the Jews of the town were present, and in the congrega¬ tion there were present several old resi¬ dents who were members of a temple of which Dr. Samuel Schnhuan, now in New York, was spiritual leader. Mr. Nornmn Winestine acted as the cliair¬ man ill Helena and gave Rabbi Book- staber every possible assistance. Steps were taken to organize a religious school.
Ill his report on his visit to Montana Rabbi Bookstabcr said:
"One of the finest times that I ever spent with a group of spiritually minded laymen was in Billings, Mont. Mr. Max Frte4wald, an old resident, not only of the city but of that territory around Bil- iContitmcd on page 4)
