Center To Install
David Milenthal
As President
Michael Talis, chairman
of the Leo Yassenoff Jewish
Center's Nominating Committee, announces that
David Milenthal will be installed as the Jewish
Center's president at the
Center's Annual Meeting on
Tuesday, June 16, at 7:30
p.m.
Other officers on the slate
include Vice Presidents
Ruth Ann Blank, Harvey
Handler, Ted Fisher and
Robert Schottenstein; Treasurer Ron Shkolnik, and Secretary Ina Sue Rosenthal.

David Milenthal
Milenthal, chairman of
Hameroff / Milenthal /
Spence / Grey, currently
serves as a Center vice
president and chairman of
the Center's Self Study and
has served in the past as
chairman of the communications and personnel committees. Actively involved in the
budget and other administrative activities, Milenthal
received the Jewish Center's
Koach Leadership Award for
1985-86, given to a Center
member who significantly
affects decision making and
contributes toward the
Center's leadership process.
Ruth Ann Blank, a current
vice president, will be reinstalled. She is formerly a
Center treasurer and former
chairwoman of the Center's

When the doors to Heritage House first opened in
1961, Pearl Polster
remembers that "we didn't
have programs like we do today. There was so much that
needed to be done by the
volunteers." From playing
bridge with the ladies, to
calling upon friends and
family members who would
call Heritage House their
home, Polster became a
favorite visitor who gently
captured the spirit of providing "Life With Dignity."
On Sunday, June 28, the
community is invited to
share in the presentation of
the 1987 Eleanor and Jack
Resler "Life With Dignity"
Award to Polster. The
award, to be personally presented by Eleanor Resler,
will be one of the highlights
of Heritage Village's 1987
Annual Meeting.

Bishop of Columbus, will receive the Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith's Human Rights Award at a
"dinner in his honor on Thursday, June 18, at the Hyatt
Regency Columbus. Donald

Borror Corporation, Gerald
E. MayOj chairman of The
Midland Mutual Life Insurance Company, and Irving
E. Schottenstein, president
and chief executive off icer of
M/I Schottenstein Homes,
Inc., will serve as co-chairmen for the dinner. There
will be a reception at 6 p.m.,
followed by the diiiner at 7
p.m. :
Bishop Griffin was appointed the tenth Bishop of
the Diocese of Columbus in
1983 by Pope John Paul II.
Author, lecturer and authority on Canon and civil law,
Bishop Griffin is a magna
cum laude graduate of Pontifical Lateran University in
Rome where he received his
Licentiate in Canon,Law, a
summa cum laude graduate
of Cleveland State University from which he received
his doctor of law degree and
a magna cum laude graduate of Borromeo Seminary
where he received his bachelor of arts in philosophy.

forms of bigotry and discrimination and to promoting interreligious and inter-
group cooperation in the Uni-

of new officers and trustees
elected at the Tenth Annual
Meeting of Temple Beth
Shalom on May 17.
Oppenheimer, a special
education consultant for the
Special Education Resource
Center, was elected trea-.
surer, and Betty Hersch,
production support manager
at Highlights for Children,
was elected! secretary. This
will be Hersch's second term
as secretary of the congregation.
In addition, the temple
elected as trustees for two-
titled "Footprints in the
Sands of Time" in honor of
Columbus Torah Academy Sets
June 8 Graduation Exercises
The twenty-second graduation exercises of the Columbus Torah Academy will
be held on Monday evening,
June 8, at 7 p.m., at the
school building. Nine students, who have completed a
nine year program of intensive Hebrew and general elementary and junior high studies, will be awarded diplomas.
Rabbi Moshe Possick,
executive vice president of
the National Conference of
Yeshiva Principals and director of school supervision
for Torah Umesorah, will deliver the address to the graduates. The graduating class
will present a program en-

Task Force on Youth Violence and initiated the Prisoner Outreach project that
was held in Columbus on
Christmas Day. He serves as
a member of the board of the
Franklin County Alcoholism
and Alcohol Abuse Program
and has provided leadership
to the Meals on Wheels program. :., . ' : '
Being an attorney, Bishop
Griffin is one of the leaders
of the St.-Thomas More Society which is comprised of
Catholic lawyers.
The event will benefit the
Anti-Defamation League
which funds the many programs and activities of
ADL's Ohio-Kentucky-In-
Chemical Abstracts Service;
Susan Rosenstock, director
of development for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra; Alan Weiler, CPCU
for Archer-Meek-Weiler Insurance Agency, and Randall Friedlander, new product development manager
for Century Adhesives.
Elected for one-year terms
were: Bette Roth, National
Council of Jewish Women,
and Barbara Brandt, director, Columbus Regional
Campaign, the Ohio State
University. They will join
Jan Orlansky, Burton Hirsch
and James B. Feibel on the
board.

Peri Golden, Rusty Rosenthal To Receive 1987 ErkislBerliner Scholar Athlete Awards

Peri Golden of Walnut
Ridge High School and Rusty
Rosenthal of Bexley High
School have been named the
winners of the 1987 Don Erkis/Lou Berliner High
School Jewish Scholar/Athlete Scholarship. This
scholarship, organized by a
committee of the Leo Yassenoff Jewish Center, is
awarded annually to an outstanding male and an
outstanding female high
school senior. In addition,
Laura Bloch, Keith Cheses,
. Suzanne Friedman, Melanie
Katz, Scott Kotzin, Rick Shapiro, Ken Shimberg, Vickie
Siegel, Joel Speyer, Douglas
Sunshine and Eric Yavitch
also met the criteria for this
award.
Peri Golden
Athletically, Rosenthal excelled in soccer; wrestling
and karate. A two-year letter
winner in soccer and voted
most improved player his junior year, he was a four-year i
letter winner in wrestling
and a tri-captain his senior
year. He was the 126 lb.
champion at the Franklin
Heights Tournament in 1985 -
and 1986 and runner-up in the
Eastmoor Tournament in
1986. In addition he was
ranked fourth in the District
earlier this year with a 9-2
record until a knee injury
ended his season. Rusty also;
holds a blue belt in karate.
Bloch is a senior at Columbus School for, Girls with a
3.0 GPA. A member of the
Honor Roll, she received
Second Honors this year and
will attend the University of
Vermont. Bloch participated
in varsity track her sophomore year and varsity field
hockey her junior and senior
years. In field hockey, she
was named All League
Honorable Mention her junior year and All League All
Star her senior year. She
helped her team reach the
State Finals her senior year.
Cheses will graduate from
Bexley High School with a
3.2 GPA. A member of the
National Honor Society, he
excelled in tennis, where he
was a four-year varisty team
member and captain his senior year. Along with his
doubles partner, he captured
the 1985 and 1986 District
Championship. He qualified
for the State Tournament in
1985 and 1986.
Friedman will graduate
from Bexley High School
