The Schottenstein Chabad
House, at OSU, and the Chabad Torah Center, at 2942 E.
Broad St. strive'to enhance the
quality of Jewish life in central
Ohio, according to Rabbi
Chaim Capland. This is done
by providing educational and
cultural activities that heighten
Jewish identity and pride, he
said..
ing organized by Lynda Schiff
and Terri Schottenstein. Schiff
noted, "This holiday commemorates our ancestors'
struggle and sacrifice for religious freedom. Now that we
are so fortunate to have that
Chanukah 5755 begins with ihe first light
on Sunday, Nov. 27, 24 Kislev.
According to Rabbi Cap-
land, "We live in an environment that constantly, bom- ,.
bards us with messages inconsistent with Jewish values. It is
important for us, and our children, to express our Jewish-
hess in a way that will contribute to our own spiritual well-
being as well as make our
community a better place to
live. By having a public menorah or Jewish music at the City
Center, we are fulfilling our
Divine charge of being 'a light
unto the nations,'"
The Chanukah event is be-
freedom, it is our responsibility to appreciate it and take
advantage of it. We encourage
all members of the community
to come together and celebrate,
regardless of background or affiliation."
"We'want to recognize the
following people," Schottenstein said, "who have graciously "offered their support
in this endeavor. Mr. and Mrs.
Ari Deshe, Mr. and Mrs. Jon
Diamond, Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Dolinger, Mr. and Mrs. Mark
Ebner, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ezzo,
Dr. and Mrs. Dfivid Lever,
. Mr. and Mrs. Eli Goldach, Mr.
and Mrs. Brad Kastan, Mr.
and Mrs. Ira Nutis, Mr. and
Mrs. Gregg Robins, Mr. and
Mrs. Scott Schiff, Mr. and
Mrs. Gary Schottenstein, Mr.
and Mrs. James Schottenstein,
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Schottenstein, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Schottenstein and Mr. and
Mrs. Matt Ungar."
Anyone in the community
who wants to be involved in
this project is encouraged to
call Schottenstein at 252-1900.
