EDNA YONDORF LAZARUS
In tbe passing, of Mrs,. Edna Yondorf Lazarus, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, the Ioca.1 community loses a woman whom it will take a long time to replace. Her personality was always cheery and good natured, and nothing gave her a prouder satis¬ faction than the-knowledge that she was rendering service, par¬ ticularly in some social or philanthropic sphere. Mrs. Lazarijs was a tireless worker, for nothing stood.in her way, even to the end. The demands of health or convenience were always secondary to her. It was on account of her outstanding ability in the pur¬ suit of public work, especially on behalf of the less fortunate, that she was invited to represent the Jewish community on important welfare boards of Columbus.
Our deepest sympathy goes out not only to the children but to Simon Lazarus, who, in losing his wife, has not only lost a most amiable partner in life, but also one who was his right hand in ever so many branches of civic work in which he wa:s interested. The name of Edna Lazarus will always stand out among the treasured memories of her host of friends and co-workers of the local Jewish community.
Mrs. Edna Yondorf Lazarus
Following a brief illness, Mrs. Simon Lazarus, 47, was suddenly stricken Wed¬ nesday afternoon at her home, 172 S. Columbia Avenue.
Having worked up until the last minute on her various committees, Mrs. Laz- irtis' suddeir death came .73-a tremendous shock to her many friends as well as to the entire comnumity. Among the many activities which filled her days so com¬ pletely were the Needlework Guild, Nightingale Cottage, the Children's Hos¬ pital, the District Nurses Association, the Signia Delta Tau Sorority of which she was a' patroness, the Columbus Section National Council of Jewish Women, and the . Rose E., Lazarus Sisterhood which was "one of. the organizations closest tO' her heart. On. Wednesday morning, just a few hours before her passing, mem¬ bers of the Sisterhood received tickets from her f,or a bridge to be sponsored by her Ways and Means Committee of this organization. She also served on the board of the Bryden Road Temple, and was one of the founders of the Preven¬ torium.
Mrs, Lazarus was born in Qiicago and graduated, fropi the University of Chicago, having, come to Cohimbus 22 years ago.
In addition to the activities mentioned above, Mrs, Lazarus was known to her intimate friends for her wide private work on behalf of the needy of Goluni- lnis,,and her generosity toward the un¬ derprivileged and handicapped children.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p. m., at the residence, with burial at Greenliiwii cemetery .by Schoedingcr. Rabbi Samuel Gup of the Bryden Road Temple oflficiated. ¦
