For those who know, it is enough tO' mention the fact that Cantor Pinchik will count ."Sefira", for them to become thrilled to tbe vciy marrow, because it is during these sei*viccs that Pinchik reaches the acme of singing perfection, He prays to the Lord of Hosts with a religious fervor which seems unearthly, and his listeners do not only hear in¬ spired praying, but divine singing , as welli
It might surprise some people to learn that quite a few Gentiles arc innratiently awaiting Cantor Pinchik's appearance, as they have heard him before, and would not forego the pleasure of hearing hini again at any cost, because as one music teacher remarked: "Never* have 1 wit¬ nessed anything as touching and inspiFa- tional as the singing of Mr. Pinchik—* and I have attended dozens of perform¬ ances at the Metropolitan and at the con¬ cert lialJs, Not even the great Caruso thrilled nie with his singing as much as Mr. Pinchik."

World Affairs Institute, Dr. Butler <lc- clared that the fundamental principles of democracy were being challenged at their foundations by advocates of arbitrary tiiiverniiKiU. Pointing out that "those (Uictrines which wc have been in the habit of proclaiming and extolling are now everywhere <lcrided and treated with cynicism and increasing scorn", Dr. But¬ ler asserted that these criticisms could not be answered hy abuse but only by calm and reasoned argument and by efh- cicnt performance.
In more forcefiil language. Dr. Beard, speaking at the first anniversary of the founding of the University tn Exile, warned that Nazi propaganda iii this country was "a menace to every decency now cherished in the United States. Let ¦ us not be deceived. There are thousands of American citizens enrolled under the [ same banner of tyranny and ready to join in a movement to establish die reign of force in the United States. A country that could supply millinii.'; to the Ku Klux Klan, with its mongrel inbccilities, could supply millioiis to the Silver Shirts, the Green Shirts, the Black Shirts or whatever color of garment that is to cloak the new destinies."
"The task before us", he declared, "is to strike at this menace in every form and guise v hich it assumes. It is to deny tolerance to those who proclaim tyranny as an eternal principle. All instrumen¬ talities at our hand must be employed. The Congressional investigation now under way must be supported, aiid con¬ tinued as long as there is; a marching shirt in the United States. The Depart¬ nient of Justice, rememliering the activ¬ ities of Von V:iii<:u: Ikn-iKl & Co. in the old days, must keep,, track of Hitler's agents in the new peril., The press and the school must be employed to exiwse the low, diabolical iihilosophy of. Hitler¬ ism and strike at every manifestation of its sinister influence." Pro.fessor Albert Einstein, wdio was another speaker, was moved hy Dr. Beard's address that he publicly embraced the famous his- . torian.
Matters vital to the welfare of the Jewish Shelter Home will be discussed at the regular meeting to be held on Monday, April 30tb, at the Agudath ~
