Hebraic scholars throughout thc world will no doubt welcome this latest book of Rabbi Greenwald as it contains much valuable historical information which heretofore has never hccU revealed by any author. It represents many years of labor and research, iu the study of the Jewish spiritual life of Talmudic days.
It is interesting- to note that Rabbi Greenwakl has already received orders for copies of his book from every sec¬ tion of thc United States, Canada and many European countries.
that the agitation for an American boy¬ cott of thc 1936 Olympic Games will lead to a serious anti-Semitic wave in this country was sounded by General Charles H. Sherrill, American member of tile In¬ ternational Olympic Committee, on his return from a seven'week stay iu Ger¬ many. "Welcomed" honic by a letter from thc non-sectarian Committee on Fair Play in Sports urging him to join the movement to kee|> this country out of the Berlin Olympics, General Sherrill declined to commit hintself ou this ques¬ tion excc|>t to remark that so far as he could learn the German Olympic Com¬ mittee had complied with all rules of the International Olympic Connnittce. In his statement General Sherrill said:
"My purpose in going to Germany was to get a German Jew on thc German 0l>mpic team. I succeeded in obtaiiling the acceptance of Miss Ilclenc Mayer, a German Jew now residing at Los An¬ geles, as a member of the German fencing team. I feel that my job is Jin- ishcd. \ warning fur American Jewry. In the last two years, the attitude of the Ameri¬ can people toward the Jews has changed'. There is grave danger of an anti-Semitic wave in thc United" States due to thc agitation of the Jews iit behalf of their German brethren. I would not hc sur¬ prised if it reached such proportions as it did in Spain in 1-19*J when thc Jews were expelled from there. I would be the one most grieved if such an action took place. Many prominent Jews in New York, friends of mine, feel the same way, and it is all due to the Jews overplaying their cards. This whole trouble in Germany started when the Jews who held a disproportionate num¬ ber of high positions in (he bar and judiciary overplayed their cards. As ^oon as thc young people in the United 'States get thc feeling that the Jews here are getting 125,000,000 people to' pull their chestnuts out of the fire, the trouble will start." Wliile talking to reporters General Sherrill frequently interrupted to say that hc "vvas the best friend the Jews have."
munist deputies in thc Reichstag of 1030, and not a single Jew among thc til com¬ munist deputies of the Reichstag of l!)il3. Finally, not even thc most bra7cii official 'mendacity can obscure the fact that while there were less than .^O0,0OO German I Jews who were enabled to vote, there [were fully 0,000,000 votes cast during the Republic."
"Because we have an abiding faith in the spirit that animates the true Ameri¬ can." thc statement concludes, "we call upon him not to permit this campaign of slander and libel to go unreprovcd. We are confident that our fellow Americans all faiths, familiar with the lesson of history that oppression sets no limits to its victims, will add their voices in pro¬ test against the destruction of the inno¬ cents in Germany. We arc firm in our belief that thc American sense of justice and fair play will influence our fellow citi/cns to express themseUes unmis¬ takably against the ruthless suppression of liberty of conscience, against thc de¬ struction 0 f human lives and human ideals, and aganst the revival of pagan barbarism In the heart of the civilized world."

No One Should Miss Seeing **The March of Time** Nationally Famous News Reel Now

(Coutinued on page 4)
The rema.rkable transformation that has occurred in Palestine in recent years, as a result of Jevyish initiative, idealism and resources, is described vividly in the current issue of "The March of Time," famed newsreel that features the out¬ standing events of the day. Opening at the RKO palace Theatre this week and showing at hundreds of first run picture houses throughout the nation, this Pales¬ tine pictorial is an unusual presentation of the forces that liave made possible the rapid grpwtli of Palestine's Jewish population, until it reaches 350.000 to¬ day, increasing at' the rate of 50,000 yearly.
Entitled "East of Suez." the Palestine section of "The March of Time" is en¬ dowed with striking photograi^y and ex-p pert edititig. Describing the desolation aild the primitiveness whkh characterized the oiuntry in centuries past, the tdcture brings the scene up to date, showing
Jews building roads, houses, schools and introducing all the modern elements ot civilization, from- agriculture to industry and art.
Set off agaitist the peace and security of Palestine are several introductory scenes showing Nazi fury against Jews in Gern^any, who have been driven from the land and who have found their chief haven of refuge in Palestine.
Last week Gerald Breitigram, film critic of the New York World-Telegram, was so interested by "The March of Time" that Ins review gave it precedence over the principal picture at Radio City Center Theatre. He called the sequence "fascinating."
"You see Jewish workmen, artisaniS, farmers transforming an arid land through irrigation, turning the swamps of the Valley of Jezreel Into cultivated farms, building a new and more beauti¬ ful Jerusalem outside the walls of the
old. Scenes of absorbing interest also show the business and social life of Tel Aviv, a beautiful city of 130,000 Jews created in a few years where no city ever stood before.-^ And at Haifa, you behold a far-flung beach resort, bathed by the blue water of the Mediterranean and crowded with holiday makers."
Many of the scenes in the picture arc devoted to the work of the Keren Hay¬ esod, . Palestine Foundation Fund, which has raised $13,000,000 in the United States for the furtherance of coloniza¬ tion, immigration and education activities in Palestine. The villages of the pio¬ neers, tlie modern experiments in child education and other activities aided by the Keren Hayesod are, pictured by the most beautiful photography America has ever seen from Palestine.
"March of Time", picture can be s«!en at the RKO Palace daily through next Thursday evening.

A meeting of the workers committee will be held at the Excelsior Club next Tuesday evening, Oct, 29th, at 8 p. ni-i when final details and literature on the drive will be distributed.
Rabbi Zelizer's Sermon
Rabbi Nathan Zelizer will speak at the E. Broad St. Temple Friday, Nov. 1st, at S p. m., on the theme, "G^tiles Who Plead for th Jews." All are welcome. '\
Active coopcratitm of the churches of Columbus in the 1935 Community Fund Canipaign is spught hy the Intcr-Church Committee, ui a letter to thc clergy of the city asking their supiwrt of the fund by making definite announcements to the \ arious congregations on Nov. 3 and Nov. 10 in churches and on Nov. 2 and Nov. 0 in synagogues-
"Thc primary cmph:isis of all religious faith is hiterest in one's neighbor and the sharing of his burden," the commit¬ tee says. ..
"Wc cannot now in Columbus, as in a simjilcr day, individually show this neighborly care. Needs are too complex. We scarcely know the people on thc next lot, to say nothing of those who live across the river. As a result, individual attempts to handle strange and complex human needs often only complicate a bad situation. Such needs must he met through organizations competent to know and understand these modern human problems.
"The Community Fund of Columbus and Franklin County is the organized program of our citizenship to meet im¬ perative needs affecting perhaps a third of all our people. The Fund is not a relief organisation in itself. It is a co- ordhiating plan which in one campaign obtains funds for forty-three separate agencies, and at much less cost than in former d.iys when .the separate organiza¬ tions were forced to make almost dally solicitations. It functions through a program that serves every day in the year rather than upon any hit or miss basis, such as existed before funds for daily operation were assured.
"Ill the Community Fund there is no duplication of the work done by public funds. Private agencies no longer fur¬ nish the food that is required by our fel¬ low, citizens out of work. This must come from government soiirces. To sup¬ ply this food for one month costs almost as much as we give Community Fund agencies for the entire year. However, there is much that government cannot do, which is absolutely necessary for the .welfare of our community and which represents human needs as acute as hun¬ ger itself.
"The campaign slogan 'Be a Good Neighbor' emphasizes our religious and moral obligations to aid in meeting needs that government cannot meet. More than 2,000 of our good citizens are work¬ ing long hours without remuneration of any kind to make this campaign a suc¬ cess. If each of, us will do his part we should easily meet the goal of |625,000, which is set as the very minimum sum that must be obtained to meet our wel¬ fare problems for, the coming year." . (Signed) Rev. Thomas Donaldson, Rev. Leo M. Brehin, Rabbi SarauelGup, Rev, M. A. Trier.'
