Coluinbus is now mobilizing for thc 1!)35 Cainmunity Fund Campaign to raise thc sum of ,i!f)2ri,000 to carry on the worlc^ of the 43 agencies which share in thc Community Fund of Columbus and Franklin County. This figure provides for, 116 expansion of work, no increased servi^ces, it was pointed out by the re¬ port of the goal committee composed of the .following members: J. E, Butler, Arthur C. Johnson, Robert Lazarus, A. M. A^iller, Mrs. Carl.A. Norman, Carl H: Bbgart, Allen Gundersheimer, B. G.! Huntington, E. P. Leonard, and Miss Jane Tuttle.
The preliminary educational work of the campaign is already under wAy with nearly otie hundred women enrolled in the Women^a Crn'sade to- tell by means of the radio through visits to, thtr agen¬ cies, by informal talks wherever women gather, sonic of the tremendous needs both tangible and intangible, and what the Community Fund agencies are do¬ ing to try to meet these hiiman ncCds. "One of the most valuable featu^ies f of the \^elfare program of Commi^nity Fund agencies is also one of the least under¬ stood.- .Constructive character building activities, haye assumed new and ev'eii greater impoi;tance with the avalanche of depression created problcnis," said Mrs. Hari-y M. Runkle, general chair- mart of the' Women's Crusade. "Unset¬ tled conditions in hpmes, lowered stan¬ dards oi .living, lack of parental author¬ ity, unemployment of mind, and body, all have combined to produce a community crisis through startling iiicreases in de- Irnquency and crime." ¦

We must hot be confused in these days: The gov¬ ernment is by no means doing the wel¬ fare work that must be done in Colum^ bus.. The welfare agencies iii the Com¬ munity Fuiid were here before the de^ pression; tHey will be needed long after the depression is over. . They are a nec-^ cssary w^ri of our mbdcrn, congested in¬ dustrialized society, and those of us who happen to be a bit more fortunate must see'to.it that these, agencies can do their, part in helping human beings iii an effi¬ cient manner." .

According to the best authorities on Jewish Education, there are more than a million Jewish children, in the United States who should be receiving some sort of Jewish Education. Thc majority of these children receive this instruction in week¬ day schools such as The Columbus He¬ brew School. . German Jews In Panic As Nazi Regime Prepares To Expropriate Capital
BERLIN, (WNS)—A panic of almost reipljcrg laws Had wiped out the gains uncontrollable proportions is sweeping of a century and a half of Jewish eman-

Although the government's policy of lim¬ iting severely Jewish economic opportuni¬ ties, most observers here believe that in effect. it will amount to expropriation. Palestine High Commissioner Says War Will Be Localized
JERUSALEM (WNS) —Palcor Agency).—At one of the most dramatic and'uiiusual.meetings of government offi¬ cials,, Arab, English and Jewish :lep.ders, bankers and industrialists in the history of the country, a message w.as read fr.om Sir Arthur Wauchope, High Commis¬ sioner for Palestine, who is now: in Lop- don, in which he assured Palestine, that the "Italo>-Ethiopian War will remain lo¬ calized." The meeting, held-at tlie Gov¬ ernment offices, ..was summoned,on the instructions of the Palestine High Com¬ missioner^ .who had been-informed by lo- I cal epyernment officials, of • the intense anxiety prevailing throughoiit Palestine because; of tjie movements of the Medi¬ terranean fleet, and the - hearness to^ the g.cene of conflict.' J. Hathorn Hall, Act¬ ing High Commissioner, presided at the meeting, which Was. attended, among oth¬ ers, by Isaac"Ben Zvi, president of the Jewish National. Council; Mayor Hussein Khaldi of Jerusalem,, Mayor Meier Diezengof! of Tel Aviv,"the Grand Muf¬ ti of Jferusaleth, Moshe Shcrtok and Elie¬ zer Kaplan, of the Jewish Agency Exec¬ utive," Ragheb Bey Nashashivi, former Jerusalem mayor as representative of,the Arab Bank. Harry Viteies of the Central Bank of CotOper- atiyes; Lazar Rabinowitz of- the Ashrai Bank, . representatives ,of. the Barclay's and Ottoman .Banks, outstanding Jew¬ ish, Arab and English.leaders, and the entire Government Executive Council.
The Acting High CotnmisStoner de-, clarcd that the gathering had been con¬ vened on instructions from Sir Arthur Wauchope in London for the purpose of hearing the following misssage from him: *Tt is my considered opinion that there is no caiise for anxiety.' We anticipate that complete tranquility will- be tnain- tained in the Mediterranean and that the Italo-Ethiopiaii War will remain'lo¬ calized, Had there been the slightest cause, for uneasiness, I should have re¬ turned in.the middle of October. In fact, I will probably arrive in Palestine in the middle 'of November." Mr. Hall then addled that "the doubts which arose in certain quarters, causing uneasiness and disquietude, are now shown to, be unfounded and unjustified. I ask those present to use this, knowledge to reas¬ sure public opinion."
cipation, he said "these laws serve the community of the German people. Wc do hot want to exterminate the Jews by violence,. We merely want a clean sep¬ aration. We say, Germany |or Ger¬ mans, but not for Jews. ' That is. the beginning of a tolerable peace. The Jew¬ ish question cannot be solved by broken window i?anes and other acts of violence, and I want to warn all racial comrades and especially our, party comrades . against pursuing a Jewish policy bf their own.
