NEW YORK.(WNS)—With primi¬ tive weapoiis and against terrific odda the Jews of Germany arc determined to fight for their existence in that country in the face, of real daily increasing difficulties which create thc feeling that conditions liad'changed for the worse so far as thc Jews are concerned, . Rabbi Jonah ' B., Wise told a conference of Jewish lead¬ ers at the home of Felix-M. 'Warburg on his return from a visit to Germany, France, Holland and England to obtain first-hand information regarding the present condition of European Jewry diie -to the'situation in Germany. Reporting that '11,000 Jewish refugees returned, to Germany during 1934 and many bf them Jiaye been arrested and put in concentra¬ tion camps. Rabbi Wise declared that last year the Jews of. Germany raised 13,000,000 marks by sell-taxation for their religious, educational and social vvelfare institutions and for thd emer¬ gency measui-es necessitated by the situ¬ ation that has developed - since 1933, ex¬ clusive of moneys they paid for actual membership: ini synagogues, lodge dues and related institutions. Rabbi Wise de¬ clared it is, vital to the German Jewish program that continuous. support from abroad be supplied; Planning and train¬ ing, .as .far as the Jewish youth is con¬ cerned, is for thosis who can migrate, he said, adding.that for years, to come there will be a graduating class of 7,000 young German Jews whose commence¬ ment 'will be a visa to leave the country. The only thing that, restrains thousands of Jews from leaving Germany is ' the, difficulty of; money transfer and the frightful experience of. emigrants, in out¬ side countries, Rabbi Wise reported, add-^ ing that the Jews of Germany need.our spiritual as well as physical aid for the next few" years. In response to Rabbi Wise's report and an address by Mr. Warburg,, describing . his recent flying visit to Palestine, the" conference took steps, to organize the New York; drive of tjie United Jewish Appeal's 193.5 cam¬ paign for ,$3,250,000 for- the relief of the -Jews of Germany, and -otjier Euro¬ pean countries and the settlement of Jews in Palestine.

NEW YORK—Christian,, Jewish and Moslem spokesmen, paid tribute to Moses Maimonides, distinguished medieval Jew¬ ish philosopher, thc 800th anniversary of whose birth occurred on March 30th.
The celebration was held at the Con¬ gregation B'nai Jeshurun, New York City. Prof. William Adams Brown of tiie Union , Theological Seminairy. repre¬ sented the Christians, Dr., G., T. Khei^ ralla, president of the Moslem ^Mother¬ hood and Rabbi Israel Goldstcinof Cong. B'nai Jeshurun were the other, speakers.
The Octocentennial ,of the birth of Maimonides is being celebrated through¬ out April by the Jews ot the United States and other countries. The Gov¬ ernment of Spain, in which country Mai¬ monides was born, is inaugurating an official celebration.
