American Zionists Move for Reorganization and Coor¬ dination of Efforts
ATLANTIC CITY, N. J. (WNS)— Establishment o£^ a" joint Zionist con¬ sultative council ¦ consisting of represen¬ tatives of all organizations in tlie United States engaged in any phase of Pales¬ tinian activity to coordJiiatc. and myly tile work of the various Zionist bodies in this country, to harmonize the activity of the groups of different Zionist opin¬ ions and to extend the scope, of Zionist vi^ork was authorised in a resolution adopted at the closing, session of the 38th annual convention of the Zionist Organizatipn of America. To further this coordinating effort the convention voted to appoint a special commission to consider a far-reaching reorganization of the structure! of the Z, O. A. The com¬ mission, vvhich will be appointed by the new :executivej is to convene hot later than March 1, J.936, and to,law its recom¬ mendations before a conference of rep¬ resentatives of Zionist groups.
The convention also created a new in¬ strumentality in the form of an execu¬ tive committee which;,will be vested with the executive power in the oi-ganization. This committee is to consist of alt the officers and seven additi<^al members elected by the .convention. TJte officers are. Morris Rothenberg, president; Louis Lipsky, honorary president; Harry Fried¬ berg of Kansas City, Rabbi Solomon Goldman of Chicago, Judge William M. Lewis of Philadelphia:, Max Shulman of Chicago, Elihu D. Stone of Boston, Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of Cleveland and Nathan Strails bf New York, vice- presidents; Morris Margiilies of N^w York, secretary; and Harry P. Fierst of Mount Vernon, N.
