UNTERMYER SAYS NOTHING CAN STOP BOYCOTT
NEW YORK-fChargiiig the Ger¬ man government.with attempting to inject the boycott of German goods and ' services into international diplo¬ macy, Samuel Untermyer, President ot thc Non-S<ict,irian Anti r Nazi League to Chanitiion Hunian Rights, Inc„.-said today:; "The League will continue unremittingly its boycott, of German goods and services, no matter' to what extent the Nazis try to em¬ ploy it as a dri-Ving wedge in inter¬ national negotiations. They are finally admitting with increasing frequency the real effectiveness of the boycott,"
Mr. Untermyijr's statement was prompted by the ipcc'ch,of Relchsbank Director Huelse ,*ho told the Reichs- bank ofiicials oni; May 18: in B'erlin that:..'; ^ ;,;!; ¦ '
"At any futnfp stabilization, the German foreign d|bt problem also will, be thrown int6 the debate. Creditor, countries will havjt to choose between
two alternatives. They -will have either to open their borders to Ger¬ man goods or consent to an appropri¬ ate reduction of German debts. In'any case international credit transactions will have to he made at interest rates that arC' economically tolerable."
Involved in this demand is a de¬ mand for the cessation of all boycott movements against German goods, a demand frequently voiced by the Na¬ tional socialist press,
Mr, Untermyer said "Time and again the Nails have demanded that the boycott of German goods must stop. Now, they are threatening to use the boycott as an excuseNfor proposing further reductions in debt, and interest rates. Nothing however, can make thc Non-Sectarian , Anti-ifazi League to Champion Human Rights, Ine and its affiliated organizations throughout the world, 'cease, 'for • pne 'second in the prosecution of the blockade of Ger¬ many, nothing short of the destruction of Naziism."

JERUSALEM (WNS—PALCOR AGENCY—All citizens of Jerusalem were forbidden to use thc streets and trafiic was completely banned from thc hours of 8 P, M. to C A, M., as an unprecedented curfew was imposcij Mpon the city as a result of the con- Btcrn-ition resulting from the murder of three Jews as they were coming out of thc Edison Cincnia in the cen¬ ter of Zichron Moshe; Jewish quarter in thc heart of Jerusalem. Constables with machine guns patrolled Jerusa¬ lem as police and military took the strongest precautions to guard against the renewal of attacks. The Old City wa.s surrounded with.the heaviest pa¬ trols.
The cold-blooded murders, .when a young Arab emptied a revolver into the crowd emerging from the movie^ have aroused thp Jewish community of Palestine to a high pitch of tense excitement, Thc government is being held responsible by Jewish leaders for having conducted negotiations with thc Arab leaders, thus indicating its weakness to deal with tlie disorders. So widespread is thc bewilderment and uncertainty that the government is expected to issue a .proclamation declaring that a state of emergciicy exists in Jerusalem, thus virtually puttitig the Holy City under martial law.
With these assassinations, 23 Jews have been killed or have died from wounds inflicted by Arabs, since the outbreaks began at Jaffa bn April 19. The number of Arab dead totals 15, all of whom were killed by police fire. Thc thryc men who were killed were all young. Isaac Jalowski, 27 years . old,, was. married six weeks ago. Dr. Zvi Spachowski, 35, came here from Poland a. few months ago with his wife, who is an expectant mother. Alexander Polonslty, 23, from Poland, was a -student in (he School of Orien¬ tal Studies at the Hebrew University. One of thcin had died instantly; the other two succumbed shortly after the bullets entered their bodie-s. Two otliers in the. movie crowd who were slightly wounded- were Nahum As- kenazi and Dr. A. Sehlosser.
A. hush of eerie silence blanketed the streets of Jerusalem with only soli- Jtary footfalls breaking thc stillness I of the stringent curfew. Walking [through this Holy City can be done only by special iicrmission of the gov¬ ernment. A limited number of passes has been issued to doctors, nurses, government officiats, special consta¬ bles among the civilians, journalists, bakers and milkmen. Strong police patrols on every sti-eet examine cars in transit .^nd . put every pedestrian through a thorough examination. Stray shots were heard in various parts of Jerusalem. The police replied with rifle fire in one instance, but no lone was hurt.
An ofiicial communiiiuo expressed the High .Commissioner's regret re¬ garding the murder of thc three Jews by art unknown person. Police, it is said, have particulars about the mur¬ derer and expect shortly to have further evidence. Two suspected Arabs were arrested but were later released as having no connection with the murder. The shooting began so suddenly at the movie that the crowd was thrown into a panic. Thc mur¬ derer is described as having been dressed in European clothes and as being bareheaded, A number of wo¬ men went into hysterics and fainted. The streets of Jerusalem rapidly emp¬ tied. . The police sent out patrols searching for the taxi into which the , assassin had escaped after emptying his revolver. It is believed that the taxi's license number was takien. The police issued an app«il over the radio for help in apprehending the central . figure in last night's movie murders. A request wept out for information regarding a. small green saloon car seen in the vicinity of the Edison Cinema. A suspect has been arrested. In an effort to impress the' country^ ¦ side with the strength of the forces available to quell disturbances, infan¬ try troops, accompanied by tanks, inarched "demonstratively" through various parts of the Southern and Northern Districts of Paleatine.
