In the face of impending troubles, the support of the Columbus Hebrew School becomes a matter not only of idealism but of necessity. We are obligated at this time to demand from tbe Jewish community that the educa¬ tion of the Jewish youth should be not ignored and that Jewish cultural values should be stressed much more than they have ever been before.
The current observance of Hebrew Education Month throughout, the country presents a challenge to every Jewish parent and makes the demand that the acquiring of knowledge by our young people should be made a matter of prime importance in Jewish life. ¦   . ¦

The convention, which will. be at¬ tended by .2,000 delegates, and guests, will be of special significance at this time in view of the critical problems with which Jews are faced in Europe ahd Palestine. The entire program of Hadassah in Palestine will be re¬ viewed in the light of contemporary conditions and plans will be made for the coming year. Reports and recom¬ mendations on Hadassah's medical and public health work, including the building of the Rothschild-rHadassah- Uhiversity Hospital and Medical School, and oi* the Youth Aliyah proj¬ ect for the transfer of German chil¬ dren to Palestine, which Hadassah undertook a year ago, \yill comprise the major deliberations of the conveii tion. ,   .
One of the chief discussions at the convention will be centered about the program of Jeivish education carried on by Hadassah in this country. A panel discussion oil this questipn wilt be led by Marvin Lowcnthal, author of "Ji^ws of Germany." Activities of the Columbus section of the national Council of Jewish Women will open Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. with a dessert luncheon at the Bryden Road temple.
Following, the business meeting play "The China Pig," by Alice Gersteuberg will be presented with Mrs. Paul Mode directing. Members of the cast include Mrs. Abe Wein- feld, Mrs, Samuel Swerdlow and Mrs. J. May.
Tickets fop the annual lecture course sponsored by the Council will go on sale Tuesday according to Mrs. Mark Feinknopf, chairman, who is being assisted by Mrs. Millard Ko¬ minz. Dates and siteakers for tbe Course have already been arranged to include three luncheon meetings and one evening gathering.
The speakers are Professor. Har¬ lan Hatcher of Ohio State Univerr sity. Dr. Joseph Reinenyi of ^Western Reserve, and Dr. Felix Held of Ohio State.

Greeds, persecutions, blood¬ shed and dictatorships, which are en- . dangcring civilization, would not dominate the world today if maitkind were to follow and adhere to the teachings of Jewish religion and phi¬ losophy.
In our battle for existence today, we can best cope with the situatibn. by, striving to educate our children and enlighten them as to the meaning of the combat, and imbue them with an ideal which will make the struggle worth while.
