League Discloses Plan of K. K. K.¬ Nazi Bund Merger
NEW YORK (WNS)—The' Non-Sectarian Antl-Nazl League has advised .T. Bklgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of details con¬ cerning the "merger" of the Ger¬ man-American Bund and the Ku Klux Klan on August 18th at Camp Nordland, Andover, N. .1., it was disclosed here. The League had previously supplied the Newarlc office of the F. B. 1. with the stoiy of the deal he tween   the  organizations.
The Bunldiowned (camp has been "rented" for Sunday, Aug¬ ust 18, to the Invisible Empire hy Wllhelm Kunze, Augu.st Klapprott and IVIathias Kohler, Bund leaders.
A huge "Americanization" rally is scheduled to take place at which more that 50,000 mem¬ bers of the Bund, the Klan as well as assorted .sympathizers will, according to officials of the Bund and Klan, be present.
The League stated that It "is convinced that the German- American Bund is attempting to endow itself with an aura of "Americanism" by lining up with a native Fascist group like the Ku Klux Klan, which has not yet been smeared througlj foreign entanglements.

WASHINGTON (WNSl—The case of Dr. KriPflerich Ried, Nazi Consul attached to the German Consulate in New York following his ouster from Urazil because of his fifth column acti¬ vities, is under consirieration by the State Department, Sum¬ ner Welles, Acting Secretary of State, announced at a press con- ference.
The State Department has re¬ ceived many requests for an in¬ vestigation of the Nazi diplo¬ mat, who slippeti Into the uni¬ ted Stales after Brazil charged that he had promoted Ihe sale of a pro-Nazi newspaper In that country.
Leading tho demand for an investigation was the Non-Sec¬ tarian Antl-Nazl League, which advLseri the State Department that Dr. Ried was coming to-l New York to take over some of the activities of Nazi Consul Dr. Friedhelm Draeger.
In a wire to the State Depart¬ ment, the League said:

More than $35,000 had been raised for the defense ot the young Polish Jew. Five thous¬ and dollars was sent to Paris to cover his Initial lawyers' fees. When the trial was postponed Indefinitely, a good part of the money was devoted for war re¬ lief.
Irv December, 1938, Giynsz- pan wrote to officials of the Fund here suggesting that the money should be used for the "1,200 Innocent Jews robbed and exiled and suffering from cold and hunger on {he Polish border."

The National Italian-American Civic League, at its annual con¬ vention here, adopted a resolu¬ tion condemning "the abusive and false propaganda and artl- fically Inspired i-ace hatred, and religious discrimination by ene¬ mies of democracy"
The resolution, which decries racial hatred and "propaganda levelled at the citizens of the Jewish faith in America," pledged the National Itailan- Ameriean Civic League "to com¬ bat this evil with all means at our command.
