A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN
We arc gratified to announce that the 1940 United Jewish Fund Campaign of Columbus has come to a successful conclusion and that the full quota has been reached. In this, the greatest humanitarian effort in the history of the local Jewish community, we wish to salute the energetic leaders and workers of this year's drive. The record of their achievements has without a doubt placed our organization in the front rank of those groups dedicated to a greater and better civiliza¬ tion.
With an overwhelming tragedy which has laid a heavy hand upon the Jew of Europe, Columbus Jewry has again answered the challenge of our ene¬ mies. Through our united efforts all Jewish men and women and even the youth of our city have chosen to stand their ground—for their own sake and for the sake of humanity. Every dollar contributed to the United Jewish Fund will go to sustain our co-religion¬ ists who stand on the firing line in Europe, as well as to preserve and develop our most important cultural and spiritual institutions right here in the United States.
To those loyal men, women and the youth of our commnnity, who have played an important role in this year's Fund Campaign, Robert Schiff and E. J. Schan¬ farber extend their heartfelt appreciation. They have, indeed, answered the call for help and reconstruction, for hope, courage and determination.
To all subscribers, the greatest number on record, who by their generous giving have been largely respon¬ sible for the success of the 1940 drive, the Fund lead¬ ers wish to express their sincere thanks.

Press Rails At Jews
The Italian Press, presum¬ ably with full Govenunent ap¬ proval, has launched a violent anti-Semitic campaign demand¬ ing the complete elimination of Jews from European life. The keynote of the editorial cam¬ paign Is that "the new Europe will have no Jews, no gold and no economic barriers."

"Once again we witness a con¬ spiracy of wretched corrup¬ tible creatures and money-grab¬ bing financial magnates for whom war was a welcome means for furthering their alms. The poison scattered by the Jews throughout the countries began to exercise Ita disintegrate iBg influence on sound common sense. Scribblers concentra¬ ted on decrying honest men who wanted peace as weaklings and traitors and upon denounc¬ ing the opposition parties as the fifth column, thus breaking all Internal resistance to their criminal war policy.
"Jews and Free Masons, arma¬ ment manufacturers and vrar profiteers, international bus! ness men and stock exchange jugglers seized upon political hirelings of the desperado type who described war as some¬ thing Infinitely desirable.
