Vincent Lopez fans are be¬ sieging the bandleader with con¬ gratulations on the scoop he scored when, a couple of month.s ago, he picked May llth as the date of one of the war's most sensational developments ... It was at 6 P. M. on May 10th, you'll remember, that Ru¬ dolf He.ss set out on his head- line-crashing flight from Ger¬ many to Scotland . . . But that the Deputy Fuehrer's exploit marks the beginning of the end for Hitler, as Lopez also pre¬ dicted, is something that Isn't at all certain at this writing Another seer, Michel de Nostra- dame, the French Jew who pen¬ ned his prophecies nearly four hundreti years ago, put the mat¬ ter in a le.ss optimistic light: "A captain of great Germany shall come to yield himself through pretended aid to the King of Kings," wrote Nostradamus adding that "his revolt will cause great shedding of blood" . National Advisory Budget Proposal
NE'W YORK (WNS)—Expan¬ sion ot the national advisory budget services In accordance with the results of the recent referendum, but limited to con¬ form with the views of many of those who voted/ in the negative, has been authorized by the board of directors of the Coun¬ cil' of .lewlsh Federations and Welfare Funds. It was announc¬ ed by Sidney Hollander, presi¬ dent.
This action was taken by the board of directors at its meeting In New York on May 17. follow Ing the report ot the Commit tee of Tellers which showed the proposal had received 141 affir¬ mative votes and 127 negative, with a number ot agencies not voting.
The board, Mr. Hollander pointed out, considered carefully the expressed desire of those voting hoth for and against the proposal.
"It decided not to expand ils services to the full extent auth¬ orized b.y the majority." he said "but to limit It for the year Ifl'll to services desired by the ma jority and many of the minority who wanted more than the Council had been giving but less than the referendum contempla¬ ted."
"Tho referendum was taken on the (|uestlon of tho Council proceeding immediately to or¬ ganize an advisory service which would, in addition to fad finding, mako recommendations on (he ainieais of .Agencies ap¬ pealing to welfare funds, thelr (-ami)aign goals and financial needs. In view of tho variety of ojiinions eypressed by mem ber agencies, it was considered desirable to undertake tho pandod service experimentally and to impose certain specific limitations.
